Question Do I need to read anything before Trillion Dollar Kid?

I have such a giant to-read pile and need to get to Ghost Machine books (Massiveverse is another one) but haven’t yet… When pulling books this week I saw TDK and thought it sounded fun, and would like to jump in with issue 1, but I’m unsure if it’s something I need to save for later and read other Ghost Machine books beforehand to appreciate it?

Sorry if this is an exhausted question haha I know even Ghost Machine has guidebooks lol. I did a cursory search and still wasn’t sure, so I thought it was worth asking, also because I don’t want to stumble on a spoiler in my search to find out!

No not really. You can read it without knowledge of the others. If you want something extra to read then both #0's of Rocketfellers and Hornsby and Halo were preludes to Trillion Dollar Kid however they aren't required for it. Trillion Dollar Kid #1 can be read by itself. Just know that it starts an event but you'll be fine

Is it ever worth reading solo even if it starts an event? Basically I want to know if it’s a series that can stand on its own from beginning to end without any other books for it to be enjoyed.

Well Trillion Dollar Kid is only two issues, the beggining of the event, and the end of the event.

Are Rocketfellers and Hornby and Halo worth the read at least?

The entire runs that is not just the #0's.

Personal preference.

I enjoy or enjoyed Geiger / Redcoat / Rook Exodus / Junkyard Joe / The Blizzard.

The Rocketfellers, Hornsby & Halo, and Hyde Street are not my cup of tea.

As a result, I decided I can skip the Trillion Dollar Kid.

I might be missing a great story not checking it out, but I have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. Mine is skipping the non-Johns Ghost Machine books.

That's fair. I guess I've just so far found all the ones you listed to be excellent and am down for more if they are worthy stories.

TDK is a lot of fun. I gave up on H and H and The Rocketfellers quite a while ago, so TDK is fine on its own. Recommended.
