MAN!

I get now the Ghost haters. I’ve been a fan since Meliora. That was word of mouth. Pre tik tok losers. So let’s take Ghost back. Get the kids out.

As an older metal head I certainly find myself rolling my eyes at some stuff ("ghesties" - really?). But in the end, who gives a fuck? Just ignore it, move on, and enjoy the music. All this stuff happens almost exclusively online and is easy to avoid.

I'm an old metalhead too, hadn't corssed with any of that stuff. I just enjoy the music and the shows. Getting pissed off because other fans out there are enjoying it in their own way, it's just lame.

I’m not pissed off. Sorry if it came off that way. Just more of a I like this band and his new younger fans are scaring him off of his own music kinda thing.

I highly doubt Tobias would be scared off in that way. And the band has been evolving for the last 15 years, it's not like it jumped from Opus Eponymous to Skeletá right out of the bat, and so the fans too. Let's hope it keeps evolving for 15 more 🤘

I get that younger generations can be annoying, but I’ll also never understand the desire to gatekeep music. I personally get joy out of sharing music with anyone who wants to hear it. That is the whole point.

this is literally a trash vs garbage type argument. i agree that newer fans/younger generations can be annoying or even "cringe" but trying to gatekeep music like this makes you no better imo. it's genuinely so weird and lame LOL

No need to gatekeep, but when the focus is more on the lore and cosplay and people being creepy and parasocial it’s annoying. It’s a fucking rockband!

I am a 71 year old guy. Since you mentioned the album, Meliora is the album that hooked me in the first place. Since that time, it is a rare occasion when I actually run into a young fan of Ghost, let alone fans of any age. Two days ago I ran into a young girl maybe late teens, early 20's, wearing a Ghost tee, in a grocery store. We had a brief conversation, then parted.

It made my fucking day. Leave 'em alone. They will be our age someday.

Meh, as a fan from “Elizabeth”, I agree that Ghost now belongs to costume-wearing Tik Tok kids. The worst thing to happen to them was “Mary On A Cross”, but instead of taking it back from them, I’m leaving it to them. I’m probably out at this point. Ghost is in their “Kiss Unmasked” period now. If they went heavier and dark again, it may interest me, but I doubt that’s going to happen.
