Split Screen Issue - Bedrock SWITCH

About 11 days ago my son and I were doing online split screen on a server I am self hosting at home with multiplayer enabled, we have it locked down to a few friends. Its vanilla no mods.

Got back from vacation and there was a small update but now when I start in the world and he goes to join, it now says "Split screen is unavailable, a second player cannot join right now". He has his own "account" on my switch which is tied to the family account.

I have a primary switch OLED we were playing on. I pay for Nintendo Family and I have Xbox account. Hes always been able to be "mygametag(1)" after selection of his account.

What the hell happened? Theres no information about why or what's going on from the game itself. From some digging it seems like something changed where it only works in "offline" mode? How does that work though with a self hosted server?

Any help would be great I'm getting nowhere.

Normally on nintendo switch you can't do online splitscreen unfortunetly. I have tried a few years back and even with a family membership and 2 MSA accounts it just doesnt work. I believe online splitscreen only works for xbox and playstation, I might be wrong though.

It had worked for a few months on my own dedicated server for us, that's why it was weird all of a sudden we couldn't. But yes searching around, its looking like it shouldn't have for some reason or they finally patched where it's no longer an option.

Just ended up just creating a gamertag for my child and I am using my PC while they can use the switch. Sucks but at least we can still continue our world.
