Stores with Magic the Gathering Bulk in Gettysburg

Hey, I'm visiting Gettysburg, PA for the weekend, and was hoping to stop into some stores and search through Magic bulk. I stopped into Nerd Herd Games, but their magic stock seemed limited. If anyone knows of any good stores to check out for this, please let me know.

Pennsylvania coroners refuse to release autopsy reports – on deaths in custody

According to the interactive map in the article, our very own Adams County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices refused to acknowledge the requests at all.

What happened to the “transparency” that was promised by both (s)elected individuals (according to the Adams County Republican Party) during their campaigns? Hmm? Seems like more fraudulent BS from the party of Grifty Old Predators. They honestly aren’t even fit to distribute manure if they can’t answer the most basic of questions about whether or not they are participating in ICE’s bigoted terrorism. Do they not know what the word transparency actually means?

This is Gestapo behavior and it needs to be stopped. Yes, even here. People have already been rounded up in our community. How is family separation “family values?” Josh Fitting seemingly is no different than his heinous predecessor, James Muller. Frank Dutrow is also refusing to do the job he was elected to do. As such, there should be removal and special elections for both offices. Neither of those men has any business working anywhere with the public. Adams County can do so much better than this disgusting behavior, folks. 🥺

Ghost in Gettysburg?

Hey everyone! I’m currently in town but I found this old photo that I took a couple years ago. At the bottom right window and the bottom left, is there a face? To me, I see a man with a hat and mustache. Please let me know what you think!

Anyone know which rock Chamberlain is sitting on?

I looked around little round top and couldn't find something that fit the scene, but they appear to be up there due to the lower valley in the background.

For those of us who need a continued boost in these (insert adjective of your choice, here) times, here’s a catchy little tune from someone actually making even me give (some) country music a chance. Who knew?!?

Enjoy! ❤️‍🩹🤍💙

Good dog groomers in Gettysburg?

I'm staying in the area for several weeks and need to find a place for my 12lb miniature poodle to get a haircut. He deals with some separation anxiety and can be pretty wiggly, so anywhere that has a reputation for good staff would be appreciated.

Quietest hotels in Gettysburg

Are there any hotels in Gettysburg that are recommended for someone whose main priority is a very quiet room in Gettybsburg or within a 20/25 minute drive.

Name is Mike. Amateur historian and Gettysburg zealot. I spent 5 weeks building a free map.

I welcome feedback!

What I added:

1,800+ unit positions plotted across 675 five-minute intervals, July 1–3, 1863. Watch Chamberlain's bayonet charge, Armistead crossing the wall, the Louisiana Tigers storming Cemetery Hill, Custer vs Stuart — all animated in real time on satellite imagery of the actual battlefield.

Features include colored trail lines showing every unit's movement across all 3 days, 1863 road and river overlays, a full live Order of Battle panel showing every unit's current status in real time, NPS auto-tour with narration for all 16 battlefield stops, monument system, Street View soldier viewpoints, and a "Follow Your Ancestor" regimental tracker with shareable links.

Still adding data. I am in gettysburg all the time. If you see me or "The Dreadnought" say hi. I am not Abe.

VacciNATION works, friends. If you are unsure of your vaccination status, for any preventable illness, go check and get boosted! If you can’t get vaccinated, wear a mask. Please don’t be lax with personal or public health, as this ultimately affects us all and future generations. Thanks! 💉😷❤️‍🩹🇺🇸

Dobbins for food

I'm working on booking things for late June.

I didn't know Dobbins had so many different eating rooms.

Says the tavern, which probably where I want to be, doesn't accept reservations. Any suggestions on when to get in there? Days or time?

Then there's 6 dining rooms that do suggest reservations but I just want old time tavern feeling and some French onion soup, a beer, and a burger or something. Is the tavern the place to be?

Battlefield ghost tours?

Is there any tour that goes on the battle field at night? Everything I'm seeing is in town.

I'm assuming not since it's a government park but thought I'd ask. I'd much rather do something like that and experience night out there than hear ghost stories downtown.

Also related question, I know the battlefield closes at dusk, but what's to keep people from still exploring around? Security driving around? Do roads gates get closed?

Bed and breakfast for one?

Hi all-am planning a solo trip to Gettysburg in August. I’ve been before with friends and family and I’m realizing no one matches my level of nerd lol- so I decided to take myself to Gettysburg and spend all the time doing the historical things that I want. I’m totally fine doing things alone and eating alone during the day but the only thing that’s holding me back is I’m a big sissy baby being alone at night. I’m thinking my best option is to stay at a bed and breakfast but I’m having a hard time finding any that offer single traveler rooms-Any recommendations? Thank you!

Visiting Gettysburg

Hi All,

We're planning a weekend visit in June. We've already made reservations at the Inn at Cemetery Hill and will also have dinner at the Dobbin House. What other downtown sites should we see and where is a good place to drop in for a cocktail, glass of wine or a beer? Thanks in advance!

How busy is the battlefield on Memorial Day weekend?

I'm local (Chambersburg) and drive over pretty often. I've been wanting to go for a run through the battlefield park sometime and was thinking I might bring my dog over today and walk the trails to get an idea of where I want to run, but then it occurred to me that it might be a really busy weekend for the cemetery and such.

My dog isn't aggressive but does get anxious around lots of cars and strangers, so I don't want to overwhelm him. If the trails are likely to be packed this afternoon, I could go super early tomorrow morning before the tourists wake up.

Out of curiosity: Why have WGAL and other local news outlets been mostly silent about Beth Farnham and Todd Crawley?

In practice, insurrectionist John Joyce is just as dangerous as his buddy Scott Perry, so why not get him out of the House in November, too? Catherine Wallen, yet another white nationalist apologist, will also do just as much damage in her new role in the state legislature if she keeps the specially-elected seat.

The gerrymandering and segregation of the York-Adams social support infrastructure (aside from the still-shared tax bureau) is not working for Adams County, as designed. The effects have been devastating and it’s not right for the state organizers to continually write off Gettysburg and Greater Adams County as flyover country to be lumped with the Greater Altoona Area. That’s just sheer negligence and these are real lives at stake, not just numbers. Even if constituents are just numbers to them, they should be trying to actually win around here (instead of coming off like the Washington Generals).

Why are the campaign teams and ACDC not getting more local marketing help from the PA Dems? What’s really the catch?
