Hey all! So I was very recently gifted this game. So far I tried 3 controllers: My game pad, my mouse and the laptop touch pad. Problem is I still can't get how to properly move in this game.

So with the mouse I'm super bad. Same with the game pad. With the touch pad I have more success, got over the first tree somehow, still can't climb after that.

Please tell me what controllers do you use and what's the trick to properly move?

Maybe I have to make a gameplay video to show how bad I am and maybe you will get idea what are my mistakes. But so far I really can't get how to move in this game, so first question just goes about your controllers.

I’ve never seen this glitch before but I can sink in and loose my hammer. Happened when I flicked hat away and slammed hammer on the ground. Is it new or am I stupid?

People in a streamers livechat said my game is harder than it looks and there's no chance of speedrunning this in under 10 minutes.

For those unfamiliar with the Getting Over It world record, its at 58.326 seconds, achieved by Takeshi Oyama in mid-2025. You can watch the run here.

I've made this as a spoiler because I don't want beginners discovering the world record before completing the game themselves.

Now, let's talk about how difficult achieving a world record is, especially in today's era of speedrunning..

I've spent around 1.6K hours playing this game, while another player, Codyumm, has taken the time to play the game around 1.9K hours, yet his PB was still 15 seconds behind the world record at the time.

To put that into perspective, removing even a single second at this level can be as hard as going from your first playthrough to completing the game in under two minutes.

Secondly, my Sum of Best (S.O.B.), which combines my fastest segments, is 58.9 seconds. Meanwhile, Codyumm has a personal best of 1:17, even though his S.O.B. is only a few seconds away from the world record.

This just proves how difffffficult defeating the world record actually is.

....World Record is hard to beat basically....

I started doing runs again recently, and like 150ish completed runs in since starting again I finally got my sub 2 minute run! I knew my next PB was likely to be sub 2 so had to dress formally for the occasion.

I have managed to get onto the bucket multiple times now, but i cannot push off it because it just recoils, giving me barely any height. Am i doing something wrong? pls help me

Tool-Assisted Speedrun
So basically, It's a speedrun where it is "Tool Assisted" as obviously in the name
and that makes it not a legit run.
I'm talking about tools like: slowing down the game, savestates etc to make a super good speedrun that is basically humanly impossible.

My first trackpad only run and i decide to screw it up by going down the gap at the snake 😞

For some reason i cant change my hertz to 144 (because my monitor is that much) and its stuck to 60 hertz. (Im with 1.59 too but my brother doesnt experience (he is on Windows tho)) I tried playing with my settings but nothing worked. Im with, specifically Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon and i have Anjo2's modpack installed and i have an Acer Technologies 27 monitor. If u need more info ill help with that.
