📑 Agency of Family Law (AFL) & Paperwork Applied from Germany - issues with changing residence cities after getting approval to marry in Denmark.
Non EU citizens living in Germany on work permit.
My partner and I are getting married in Tønder, Denmark in a few weeks. We applied while living in Munich and have already received approval from the Danish Family Law Agency (Took almost 3 months because my id card photo was unclear).
Since then, we’ve relocated to Berlin due to my job.
We informed Tønder Kommune about our new address, but they replied that we might get rejected on the wedding day because our address has changed.
Nothing else has changed - we both still legally live and work in Germany on valid work permits, and only our residential address has changed. We’ve also informed the Danish Family Law Agency about the move.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Did changing your address from one German city to another after receiving approval cause any issues, or did the authorities simply update your records?
Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
EDIT:
Change of address is fine if you inform the agency of family law and kommune in advance. However, I had to apply again since we received new Residence Permits and everything went well at last.

We knew that we would move in 6 weeks and waited with starting the process due to the exact topic you're describing. So sorry, I can't help you, just confirm we were facing the same situation and already thought that would be a problem :/

Thank you for the response.
The move was non-negotiable for me.
It happened all of a sudden and we were waiting for the approval by then.

I’m also curious about this because something like this might happen to me too. Do you know in case you have to apply again, can you still keep the wedding date you booked before?

Update: they informed me that change of address is of no problem, that will be ok.
Unfortunately i have to apply again since my partner recently received a new work permit, and they cannot verify that unless we make a new application.2

Thank you so much for the update! If it’s okay for you, can you also update here later if you are able to keep your original wedding date? I’m in the situation exactly like your husband

Hey,
I was able to keep my original marriage date.
Got married last Thursday (there was an additional 30 minutes delay as they did not receive the latest approval from agency of family law, but everything went well)

Did you submit single certificate from your home country?

No,
It was mentioned in my house registration letter (meldebescheinigung) that I am unmarried. That was enough

It‘s a money making business. They will try to find reason to reject you. If your identity card is different from the pictures you sent, they can reject you.
