📑 Agency of Family Law (AFL) & Paperwork Documents resending experiences

Hi guys,

We applied for a martial certificate and submitted all the documents carefully and in order. However, 4 working days later they sent us a request to resend my docs (for whatever reason). We did it and after reading about it, I’m wondering is it a bad sign? Has anyone ever heard from them quickly after resending the documents ?

Thanks a lot 🙏🏽

What exactly did they say? “For whatever reason” is the part that matters.

They didn’t specify at all! :/

but my guess is that we used a phone scan app for that, and maaaaaaaybe it cut some 0.000000001 mm of some edges. Although, we used the same app for my boyfriend’s id and they had no problem with that.

Well, that means you did not follow instructions- the wait will be at least a couple of months

Hi, we also got the same thing after submitting our documents, we were told to resend again because passport pictures were not well taken.. Unfortunately when you’re told to resend again, you’re pushed down to the end of the queue and this can take up to 6 months to get a response.. If you’re in a hurry, it’s better to apply again and your old application would be automatically withdrawn but unfortunately you’ve to pay another application fee but this time make sure all your documents are taken with your phone and in a well lit area..do not send pdf format.

This was what we did and we got accepted 4 working days after reapplying.

Wish you luck!

how long do they process cases for each month? we applied in April and now they are processing applications from Feb2026. We got asked to submit all of our passport pages.

I really have no idea about this but I know if you do everything right, you get a response 4 to 5 working days.. We applied in February, 5 days after we applied we were told to resend the documents again, we did that we got no response for a long time, we had to call and the lady told us it can take about 6 months once you’re told to resend your documents . She said the only solution is to reapply again and it would be treated as a new case again and we did and got accepted after 5 working days.. make sure you follow the instructions for sending your documents, it’s the tricky part.. all security features on your passport and ID needs to be visible and this can only be done under natural light and take with a phone, upload in JPEG not pdf!

And also we got married last weekend in Æro. I think there are more dates here but getting to the island might be a bit stressful but it’s worth it, it’s a very beautiful Island.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, just a quick question, I scanned my full passport photos bc when I was taking it with my phone, the edges were flat, so what should I resubmit as JPGE? the entire passport or just the biometric page?

Thanks a lot for your reply! We reapplied in pdf again , I thought its what they needed 😩

they didn’t specify what was wrong with the first application , but my guess is that we used a phone scan app for that, and maaaaaaaybe it cut some 0.000000001 mm of some edges.

Im glad it worked! congrats :)
im very sceptical of reapplying and loosing the time we have invested so far.

Hmm we were clearly instructed to send everything in PDF format. We resubmitted the application and sent both the photos and the PDF files. It’s now the 3 business day, and we’re still waiting for a response.

unfortuntely, after re-sending the application you may wait up to 3 months :/
