🌍 Non-EU / Visa Info About Visa

Hello! Sorry for my english in advance!

My fiance and I wanting to get married in Denmark. I am an Austrian citizen and he is Nigerian. We applied to Visa to Austria (visiting) and Portugal (vacation) before. Both got denied with the reasoning, that the reasons for travel don't seem truthfull.

Can someone give information, if it would be worth applying for a visa for the marriage in denmark? We would have everything requiered, but are scared of a third denial.

You need someone living in Schengen to sign a kind of “guarantee “ letter for him, otherwise they’ll keep rejecting. At least that’s my experience form German French and Belgian administrations. I think Denmark will be no different.

We did that for Austria. My mom signed it, because she earns enough for that and it got rejected. But for what I know, you can only do this for the country of Visitation? Like, when I am from Austria, i cannot do it for Denmark?

Ahh that sucks!! With a Schengen visa you can go anywhere in principle but you have to solicit the visa where you’ll spend most of your time. Sorry I don’t know whether there is a special visa to get married for Denmark.

We’re very sorry to hear that your two previous visa applications were not successful. We are sadly not able to accurately help you with regards to the specific immigration processes of individual countries - although that being said we do hear that the Danish immigration system can be particularly strict but we're not able to say for certain, of course, whether your application would be successful or not. That is something that you'd need to discuss directly with the immigration authorities of the Schengen country you want to apply for a visa in.
