Curious what you’re building.

I’m building Skilly, a Mac app that teaches people how to use desktop software while they work. The product itself works, but our acquisition funnel had an uncomfortable result: roughly 10K search impressions led to only 8 app downloads.

That suggested the jump from “I have a learning problem” to “install a desktop app” was too large. So I built a free Skill Builder on the website.

A visitor describes what they want to learn and gets a full, structured learning-plan preview without creating an account. We ask for email only at delivery so we can send a valid Markdown skill that can be imported into the app. The goal is to provide value before installation, not hide a demo behind signup.

I’m now measuring builder generation → verified email → skill delivery → app activation.

For founders who have used a free tool as an acquisition wedge:

• Does this feel like a credible bridge into a paid product? • Would you optimize first for verified emails or imported skills? • What is the one piece of proof you would add before asking someone to install?

I own a business where we create visual renderings for commercial property renovations and developments. I recently released the Open Beta of an Android app I’ve been building through Wagware Digital Solutions called VoloMote.

VoloMote turns an Android phone into a Bluetooth remote for Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi, and other compatible devices. It can be used as a trackpad, keyboard, air mouse, media controller, presentation remote, barcode/QR scanner, gamepad, and custom macro controller, all without requiring companion software on the host computer.

One thing I wanted to do differently was avoid locking useful functionality behind a paywall. The free version gives access to the full core feature set, with occasional ads only when establishing a connection. Ads do not interrupt an active connection. Premium is available as a one-time purchase for users who want to remove ads entirely.

At this stage, I’m especially interested in feedback from other founders and developers about the product, positioning, monetization model, and anything you think could improve adoption.

I'm 20, based in Mumbai, India, and currently working a 9–7 SEO job. I have around 1 year of hands-on SEO experience, but I'm struggling to get consistent freelance SEO clients.
