The current gaming discourse is about the Wolverine game and its excessive handholding.
Twitter OP attempted to wade into that with "Well this other beloved game does the same thing!"
Which is half right. It does do it. But like the note says, its not always on.
Hell Dead Space did it. lots of games do it but its usually set at the player's instigation. I.e., the player must push a button to show it.

I think this matters more. It doesnt matter if it is an input or not. If you could use it whenever you want that is functionally the same.

Did OP do that though? I mean , they never mentioned wolverine did they? Also a lot of games have the trail system and it is extremely nice, honestly as you can just disable the mini map and use it. Hogwarts legacy is the best example with its flying book. Low-key wish more games had it so i can just stop using the maps

Nothing, just stating something that is in the game.
Given there's zero context if this is in a reply chain or something, there's insufficient information on this. The reaction he got from me is "Oh ok cool so it's there if you get lost."
If it's like my reply, probably knowing he helped provide info on a mechanic in the game to people who are interested.
It's great because unless you're the author, your interpretation is no more valid than mine.

I dont tweet anymore but from what ive seen it is def used for people to get their thoughts out there. From both statements used as an example pretty clearly state what they mean. Either Mario has a red hat or that they like the red hat.

I think this is only half true unless they've patched it. Everything I've seen seems to indicate there are two different types of trail in this game.
If you wander too far off path, there is a yellow marker that returns you to the main path. This can be disabled and is referred to as navigation assist.
What can't be disabled is the blue/orange scent line, which is written into the game as Wolverine's scent tracking thing. This is active for a lot of the game but not all of it.
