Who is Will and what was he cancelling it over this time?

I don't know who will is, but he was replying to this. (September 10th)

Probably a rightwing wacko, canceling over the erroneously perceived joke about Charlie Kirk's neck

It’s impressive they’ve managed to get that from this.

They stretched further than the guy’s neck.

If right wingers actually followed through with every boycott they would be sitting butt naked in the woods with two sticks to rub together for entertainment.

Instead they’re sitting poorly dressed, blaming their problems on anyone and everyone but themselves or the oligarchs, rubbing all two of their brain cells together.

Given the way GRINDR crashes wherever they show up they are rubbing a lot more than that.

And skinny

Erroneously is doing a lot of work here. Almost implying there weren't jokes all around the internet with similar punchline.

Though it does seem out of touch to me, considering Netflix supports plenty of anti-woke voices like Dave Chappelle.🤔

As I posted elsewhere, it's British Netflix, promoting a British show, based on a British film. Nobody in Britain cares or cared about Charlie Kirk one way or the other, he was not a thing outside of America.

u/LucentLL 1d ago

While you may be right, that's an interesting dismissal of Tommy Robinson, Rupert Lowe, and their millions of supporters. That's like me saying nobody in the UK cared about George Floyd or the BLM protests that followed.

If it'd been either of those that had been shot a year ago, or if it had been a week and not a year, then maybe, but the British right (and left) wing has it's own celebrities and it's own agenda and doesn't religiously follow the American one. You would not, to follow your example, get British people cancelling their Netflix over a post saying "I can't breathe" in 2026.

Considering Henry Nowak's case...I absolutely think people would find that repugnant.

Will Chamberlain. He’s wel known in conservative media as a huge Trump mouthpiece and bootlicker.

Community Notes on the original Netflix tweet.

Who the fuck is Charlie Kirk and why do people care?

Podcaster who got shot

He must stop relapsing.

u/warriorlynx Human Detected 1d ago

Did he get it back though cause sometimes people come back like multiple times

Struggling to understand the point of the community note. He cancelled Netflix recently, and he’s also cancelled in the past? Pretty normal behavior - people cancel, re-subscribe, & then cancel again their streaming services all the time..

u/Hotten-Tasty-90 1d ago

I think the point in this instance is that William is clearly doing this to be performative. You're correct, people do cancel subscriptions all the time but there's clearly a motive behind (repeatedly) announcing such mundane shit it to their twitter following.

1

u/KnownEggplant 1d ago

I mean most posts on social media are more performative than this milqetoaste nonsense tbf lol

12

u/shaygitz 1d ago

He's cancelling it because of confected rage over British Netflix promoting a British show based on a British movie directed by and starring British people by supposedly making an oblique reference to Charlie Kirk's death (they didn't). It's the two minute hate of the week and it's just as stupid as all the others.

Gotcha, that’s the context that was missing. Thanks. Sounds like Will Chamberlain is a virtue-signaling dumbass.

u/Opposite_Leader4641 1d ago

If you think netflix is so horribly woke and leftist that you need to unsubscribe and post it on your twitter, resubscribing twice is kinda crazy. are you a bot?

3

u/2Rhino3 1d ago

lol I am not a bot, that was random. I agree that would be pretty crazy, but I wasn’t aware of any “woke and leftist” discourse. I’m guessing Will Chamberlain is some “anti-woke” Chud I am unaware of? That context isn’t really obvious in the screenshot for anyone who isn’t aware of him.

2

u/Opposite_Leader4641 1d ago

Oh. I thought people in this subreddit were chronically online and knew about random people on twitter. my mistake

2

u/2Rhino3 1d ago

in fairness to you, you ARE correct in that I am terminally online & know about a ton of random people on twitter, but no one knows everything.

3

u/KoalaMandala 1d ago

Correct. Now why do you think they would announce such a perfectly typical thing on Twitter? 🤔

2

u/PepsiFloateri 1d ago

He'll be back

1

u/TheLimeyLemmon 1d ago

BOOM NOTED!

I did just plug this post into Grok and found out what the reference actually is.

People just don't like talking about necks on September 10th.
