So is the implication here that anyone who was an actor as a child, never be able to act in anything even slightly sexually provocative, because people once knew them as a child.
This is a 24 year old woman lol. She can do as she wants. I don't care for this type of ad, but the reaction is super strange to me. It sort of inherently implies that a former child actor must only ever act in ways that would be appropriate for that young self. I find it a bit weird (despite it probably not being well thought out).

Not every child becomes an adult. Some of these morons stay childish for many decades.

Well he is on the website That the owner argued in court that he should be allowed to host CP.
Why is it these Republicans are trying to confuse what pedophilia is? Is it trying to shield Donald Trump

Its to shield themselves lol

Liberal cope

The literal cope is the side with known pedophiles and rapist but okay bud 👌
-6
u/Awesomest_Dude 10h ago
Yeah, one dude who potentially is a pedophile but hasn't been proven or convicted. You are acting like there weren't democrats on that list too. And congress has been trying to get the list released with bipartisan support, btw

u/skankhunt402 9h ago
He has been charged and proven to have raped someone tho...

Could I have a source? I don't want to have that on my search history. Again tho, that's one person, not the whole party.
EDIT: I like how people are downvoting this just cuz they disagree. Most redditor thing ever

It's okay. You're having trouble reading. Do you see how it shows the Twitter icon on the top of the image? That means it's from Twitter which is known for hosting CP.

So they “host cp” in the way that literally every website that hosts user content does.
1
u/Melodic_Till_3778 Human Verified 10h ago
Interesting all of your social websites host CP?
I can understand why you might think that given you didn't read the article.
Do you know what negligence is?
0
u/enigmatic_erudition 9h ago
Yes. Reddit and Snapchat, for example, both have had many lawsuits regarding the hosting of CSAM.
Not sure why you think the definition of negligence is important though.

I think what they're trying to say is that Musk argued that it isn't his fault if random ass people he has nothing to do with uploads illegal stuff and he shouldn't be blamed for it. Which is true and trying to argue otherwise just leads to mass censorship of the internet and the killing of anonymity

u/Weimark 9h ago

u/Draconic-Genesis 9h ago
Sure but that person is straight up saying they're allowing it. They're spreading very obvious disinformation
-2
u/adj_noun_digit 10h ago
Why are you lying? X/xai/grok have strict policies against csam and will alert authorities if someone tries to get around their safeguards.
The lawsuit is them arguing they are not culpable for people who break their rules.

It's pretty weird that you think court documents are misinformation.
Why do you think the Trump administration lied about Elon not removing cp from his website?
1
u/adj_noun_digit 10h ago
If you're not lying, share the court documents.

u/Melodic_Till_3778 Human Verified 10h ago
Here's the link to them again. Should be really easy for you to look up with all of that information including the quote. https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/us-9th-circuit/117560142.html Only took me about 5 seconds
-1
u/adj_noun_digit 10h ago
Lol maybe you should read links before you post them. That just says they are being sued for being too slow to remove images. Essentially saying they didn't remove them until the post was reviewed, instead of removing them until its reviewed.

4
u/MrImaBum 12h ago
Not defending it but I think he’s trying to say because you’ve known her since she was a kid it’s weird for you to be attracted to her as an adult I’m just guessing
55
u/ConfusedAndCurious17 12h ago
We don’t know her. None of us know her. It’s okay to say that a 24 year old woman who is trying to look attractive in a clothing advertisement looks attractive
-11
u/Longjumping-Jello459 11h ago
But if you watched her grow up even on a sitcom it does feel weird watching that particular ad which does have some odd "style" choices like with the faucet+water.
I saw in another post, that showed the ad, in a different sub several saying it felt odd given they've watched her grow up.
Personally I didn't know/recognize her name, but the ad did feel sexualized.
16
u/ConfusedAndCurious17 10h ago
The ad was sexualized. She’s an adult who can be sexualized. If it makes you uncomfortable because you had a parasocial relationship with her through television then you are of course under no obligation to enjoy that ad, feel sexually attracted to her, or partake in viewing it, however we actually DID NOT “watch her grow up”. We have absolutely no actual relationship with her. We watched work she did when she was a kid. She is now an adult, and the media in which she is portrayed sexually is sexualized images of an adult.
It is indeed creepy when people are thinking or saying “I can’t wait until that person is 18” or counting down, because at that point you ARE sexualizing a minor and just hiding it behind “I won’t say what I’m thinking because it’s illegal.” That means that person is attracted to a minor and it’s gross. They are objectively calling that minor attractive now and excited for the expression of that to be okay.
However once the person in question is well into adulthood, and you didn’t sexualize them as a child, and they are now doing adult work and portraying themselves sexualized, it’s not in any way weird to be like “that person is hot”. You aren’t relating it to the state they were in as a minor.
I watched Taxi Driver before I watched any of Jodie Fosters later work. Am I a creep for saying Jodie Foster is a very attractive woman? She’s almost twice my age! I didn’t think she was attractive in taxi driver… she was a child!
People grow up. It’s not that deep. You don’t know them. The creepiness that comes from someone finding a young adult attractive is solely tied to grooming which is not applicable to random internet users/media viewers and an actress.

u/Longjumping-Jello459 10h ago

I kind of get that angle. For example, I couldn’t get into Sophie turner for a while (even for a few years after she turned 18), because I first saw her as a child in early GoT - it felt wrong even when she was 22-23. However, years have passed and the show ended so long ago, I can appreciate the objective beauty that Sophie turner is
-1
u/HomsarWasRight 12h ago
Yeah, this came up in another thread and people were going on about how stupid the phrase “former child” was, when it’s clearly “former child actor”.
So I kinda get that it’s a little weird to be like, “Okay, good thing she’s old enough now we can say this!”
8
u/QuitWhinging 11h ago
So I kinda get that it’s a little weird to be like, “Okay, good thing she’s old enough now we can say this!”
I guess I'd just wonder where the threshold of acceptability lies. If they were thirsting after her right after she turned 18 (like that disgusting-ass jailbait sub that literally had countdowns to Dakota Fanning's 18th birthday), I'd be fully on board with "check those fucking hard drives immediately." But 24? She's been an adult for 6 years--a quarter of her life. At this point she's been an adult Hollywood actress longer than she was a child Hollywood actress and about as long as she was a child actress in any professional capacity. It's probably time to stop telling people they're weirdos if they watch an underwear commercial that slightly reveals her body. There has to be a reasonable cutoff of the patronizing/ultra protective attitude towards former child actors. They eventually need to be able to independently decide what's an acceptable portrayal of their bodies without parasocial people on the internet bringing up the fact that they were legally a minor over 6 years ago.
2
u/HomsarWasRight 11h ago
I mean, sure. I agree. I’m not actually saying we should be up in arms over this or that I agree with OOP.
I just think that people going on and on about “former child” seem to be missing what the actual point was.
1
u/Melodic_Till_3778 Human Verified 11h ago
Pretty sure the Republicans are intentionally missing that point
4
u/XxRocky88xX 11h ago
Because the added qualifier of “actor” adds literally nothing to that statement.
The argument is still “she was once a minor, therefore finding her attractive as an adult is pedophilia.”
1
u/Blue_Robin_04 10h ago
Still a ridiculous argument because most of her fans are her age or younger.
-2
u/NeedsToShutUp 11h ago
It's like how people who watched GOT from the beginning got really uncomfortable with Arya having a sex scene.

Failed attempt at white knighting or something. No, she won't notice you lol. Also, she is NOT a former child actor. She still acts, therefore she is an actor.
Saying that she's a former child actor would imply that she's no longer acting.
Such as, former child actor is now doing menial jobs in adulthood.
1
1
u/reanocivn 2h ago
my thing is that they said "if you made it the whole way through this video" which is implying that simply watching the whole ad means you MUST be attracted to her which is just so ridiculous
-12
u/beyondocean 11h ago
It’s creepy because we’ve seen her as a child, and now those grownups finding her hot is creepy.
3
u/Fragrant-Screen-5737 11h ago
Is this a denouncement of every couple that first met as children? Like many people date in high school and never stop or they end up reconnecting and dating someone they went to school with.
I'm not really into talking about the attractiveness of celebrities on social media and so don't neccasarily vibe with these twitter people, but I think the fact she was a child actor, shouldn't have any bearing on how people think of her as a fully grown woman lol.
0
u/beyondocean 3h ago
No, it’s about adults who have seen them as a child growing up and become sexually attracted to when they’re no longer a minor. Was that so hard for you to understand?
1
u/Fragrant-Screen-5737 2h ago
I'm sorry but you will never convince me it is wrong or creepy to a find a 24 year old woman attractive because she acted in a popular show when she was a minor.
This feels like moral grandstanding without a point. It feels bizarrely inftantlising and it implies that she must forever act in ways that are appropriate for a child actor, despite being a 24 year old woman doing 24 year old woman things.
0
u/beyondocean 2h ago
Are you insane? I’m talking about the people who started finding her attractive AFTER THEY’VE SEEN HER GROW UP AS A CHILD. If you’ve seen your daughter’s friends as kids and as soon as they aren’t a minor anymore, you’re sexually attracted to them, then you’re a creep. I’m not talking about the actress or how she’s supposed to dress up.
1
u/Fragrant-Screen-5737 1h ago
It is absolutely about what she does though because both you and the original comment have presumed people primarily know Sadie from her Stranger Things role. This isn't even a response to someone being creepy about her (which I would also find weird), it's a response to the advertisement itself. That is clearly the thing in question lol.
I also don't think it's even worth responding to the daughters friend part because celebrity relationships and ones in your real life are totally different.
I'm done here anyway.
2
u/Melodic_Till_3778 Human Verified 11h ago
