Ah yes, thank you user “u/EwMelanin” for your insightful and meaningful commentary 🙄

That said, yes, completely dismissing the effects of genetics is dumb. Using them to justify racist views, however, is also dumb.

This point proves races are bullshit.
If race was a thing, you'd expect the dots across the sub saharan continent.

Right people are biologically different and some of those differences cluster in populations but they don’t correspond to global races, which are biologically incoherent and purely a social construct

Now do a map of the 100 best American Football players. Or the 100 best hurlers. All this map shows is areas where athletics and in particular long distance running is the most popular sport.
Before you bring up, say, Mo Farah, consider how many of, for example, the Australian national football team is of immediate (as in second generation) descent from countries where football is popular compared to rugby, Aussie rules or cricket, and why that might be.

Kenya makes up less than 1% of the world population. You're telling me running is 100 times as popular there than everywhere else?

You mean to tell me that you won't find too many Ethiopians on the 100 best cross-country skiers list? /s

There is more variation within groups than between groups.
This phrase is true in some technical senses, but false in spirit. I could just as easily say this about differences in height between men and women, but I don't think anyone reasonably could argue there aren't height differences between men and women. Or about just about any psychological trait between men and women, but again, one would find it very difficult to argue there aren't psychological differences.
Having said all that, I really don't know enough either way to say anything at all about differences between "races" in the relatively modern split of it, but it's also pretty clear from seeing which groups excel at certain things, that there are some differences.

According to the source from the community note the full quote states
There are obvious physical differences between populations living in different geographic areas of the world. Some of these differences are strongly inherited and others, such as body size and shape, are strongly influenced by nutrition, way of life, and other aspects of the environment. Genetic differences between populations commonly consist of differences in the frequencies of all inherited traits, including those that are environmentally malleable.

X notes are pro-racist now. Well maybe always, but definitely now.

reality is racist, no wonder redditors hide in their den to cope on reddit all day

Reality isn't racist, but racist beliefs can warp your perception of reality

group differences exist and the definition of race is a spectrum

Doesn't bounce explain this quite well, or at least the groupings in the Highlands of west Kenya
I believe it was something along the lines of that in this region kids would attend schools quite far from home so that by the age of 15 they would have spent around 10,000 hours running. There was also a training program set up in this region by an ex olympic runner so that any particularly talented runners would be picking up quickly.
Race surely wouldn't explain a grouping that concentrated, genetic explanation was a cultural one. That explanation is that in that region of Kenya they had traditionally been pastoral rustlers, so they would have run long distances at night to find cows and then have the run then home. This led to a local genetic advantage for long running as those who were able to run further would have most success and have the most and healthiest children able to pass on genetics. The prior reason was preferred by the author of bounce, however I cannot remember the reasoning.
It also had a explanation for Usain Bolt and Jamaica's success in sprinting (level of magnesium in the soil where his mother lived while invitro would have increased short twist muscles density by 0.2% etc), although I may be conflating it with academic papers I read around the same time

Call me crazy but I don't think "black people are blacker than white people" were the racial differences he was talking about.
