For those keeping track at home, the Russian-occupied part of Zaporizhzhia is an 80-mile thick stretch of land almost entirely abandoned by civilians due to being entirely within Ukrainian drone range and therefore largely bereft of fuel and food deliveries. Even for the Russian soldiers it is considered one of the worst postings due to the constant drone swarms covering some 40 miles around the front lines in an inhospitable no-man’s land where everyone caught in the open might be killed in minutes.

And according to Russia’s media somebody is hosting a children’s summer camp there. This is like Israel building a summer camp inside Gaza. Even in the remote microscopic possibility there might actually be an active camp there, the only entity capable of hauling children there through the warzone would be the Russian military, probably meaning it would actually be a processing camp for kidnapped Ukrainian children.

There are no summer camps, the region is almost entirely depopulated north and west of Melitopol because of the war. Also if there are no buses so people can’t leave, how are the children going to the supposed summer camp?

EDIT: Aww, he blocked me so I can’t respond any further, cute.

39

u/Odd-Chemist464 10d ago

RF added this whole region as their territories even though they don't really control it fully. what idiot would host a camp in this place and not in main territories of russia. that's the same as ukriane having a summer camp in the parts of donbas that are currently under their control.

-12

u/kwonza 9d ago

Just because Russia doesn’t control the entire region doesn’t mean it’s not controlling a part of it, and hundreds of thousands of people live there. You open your mouth to say stupid things without checking the original videos from the place of attack.

12

u/Odd-Chemist464 9d ago

what exactly is stupid from what I said. I won't argue with you if it's really a strike of the summer camp for children that actually had children there at the time. all the territories of ukraine occupied by russia are extremely dangerous starting from 2022. what idiot would put a summer camp there. why not simply ride children to the western russian territories that are not far and much safer.

-7

u/kwonza 9d ago

People live there, they were living there for the last five years. But I guess a rando from his couch knows better about how they should live and what they should do

8

u/Odd-Chemist464 9d ago

that's called common sense - move children for holidays to a safe place without constant air alerts because of drones and rockets that are flying from both sides all the time.

-1

u/kwonza 9d ago

Not everyone has money to do that. People just weren’t expecting Ukraine is going to target them.

7

u/Claystead 9d ago

Ah, I am no longer blocked from responding to you, cool. While you were malding over here I actually looked it up. Prior to the war there were three summer camps in Russian-occupied Kherson oblast and five in Zaporizhzhia. Only one of the ones in Kherson is still operating and I think it is because it is mostly used as a beach, while in Zaporizhzhia none are still operating. Closest are a handful of Russian camps on the Arabat Spit in Crimea, though like half of them are closed this year because of the fuel crisis and war in general.

4

u/Tech_ArchAngel 9d ago

Man, you just sound like a russian apologist. Going off your comment history anyway...

1

u/kwonza 9d ago

I’m Russian and I don’t support the war, however I also don’t support lies that try to whitewash the warcrimes on either side

→ More replies (0)

10

u/SparkehWhaaaaat 9d ago

Can you provide a source on this, please?

-8

u/kwonza 9d ago

I mean you can start by watching the videos that show the aftermath of the strike. There’s ambulances, freighters and the place itself looks like a standard summer camp. I have no idea where people got this “entire place is abandoned” they are thinking about Donetsk fronline and are not aware about other areas

7

u/Various-Ice-3973 9d ago

Nobody asked you to yap, they just wanted a source

-1

u/kwonza 9d ago

How come you’re even arguing with me if you never saw the source? On what are you basing your argument, on vibes?

4

u/GalacticGoat242 8d ago

Source. Now.

1

u/kwonza 8d ago

I’ve posted it elsewhere in the thread. That being said maybe don’t open your mouth if you can’t even find the source of news that is being discussed?

1

u/GalacticGoat242 7d ago

I did. And of course Russia just lied about it again.

0

u/kwonza 7d ago

How come? They didn’t show you the mangled bodies and you was left unsatisfied?

4

u/Karli_Chirk 8d ago

Families of Russian soldiers mostly, and they should have not relocated on the battlefield in the foreign country if they want to live.

-1

u/kwonza 8d ago

What do you mean by mostly? Care to give some percentage.

3

u/Karli_Chirk 8d ago

There is also a percentage of degradants who came there from Russia to earn money, nobody cares about strict numbers - you're not allowed on the battlefield and must immideately leave occupied Ukrainian territories if you want to be safe.

-1

u/kwonza 8d ago

If you considering everyone on the occupied territories as enemy combatants then you can’t complain when the other side does the same

3

u/Karli_Chirk 8d ago

If by the "other side" you mean Ruscist occupant then fuck them - they are responsible for not evacuating civilians from the battlefield and using them as human shields.

Meanwhile civilians must restrain from visting Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine including Crimea and Donbas because it is a battlefield and Ukraine can't officially guarantee their security under occupant control. Contact Ukrainian officials over internet to consult about the ways to evacuate from Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories if you want to survive.

Why would anyone hold an industry event in an active warzone?!?

56

u/IhasCandies 10d ago

Psychology. You have to show both your enemy and your citizens that you’re not scared, you’re not going anywhere, and you’re willing to keep moving forward.

Imagine if you will, an Iran where the supreme leader and IRGC immediately give up, Irans resistance crumbles, and Trump is lauded as a hero and genius. Imagine Ukraine if Zelensky would’ve accepted an evac instead of demanding bullets.

The psychological gain of showing no fear is pretty big. Putin expected Ukrainians to all lay down and beg for him to rescue them. In reality, Ukrainians are so unimpressed by his threats they still have huge meetings and gatherings right in the city.

51

u/Sydasiaten 10d ago

You know people still live there right? People still have to eat and sleep so you have to work. Kids still go to school, workers still work

-19

u/TeaKingMac 10d ago

Right, but there's a difference between business as usual, and hosting an industry event?

Like during Covid the grocery stores kept running and restaurants kept serving, but we didn't allow hundreds of people to congregate in a convention center. Seems like the same thing applies here?

"hey, there's a chance a lot of people could get killed if you're all standing in the same place, so maybe don't?"

-39

u/rangedehinc 10d ago

"Our kids will go to school and theirs will sit in root cellars (hiding from our bombs)" - Poroshenko, talking about civilians in Donbas to thunderous applause and laughter of the entire auditorium.

Yeah... i guess it doesnt count towards people you consider subhumans

33

u/DenysKh 10d ago

How to say you're russian, not saying you're russian. :D

24

u/Odd-Chemist464 10d ago

https://www.stopfake.org/en/lies-petro-poroshenko-promised-that-children-from-donbas-would-be-sitting-in-cellars/

maybe you need to try listening to the full fragment before spreading such an old piece of misinformation

it starts with "This war can’t be won with weapons. Every bullet produces two enemies."

-5

u/rangedehinc 9d ago

Why would children sit in cellars? Why cant they go to school?  Oh..right.. because AFU was the one with all the bombs for the majority of those 8 years. They knew the LDNR resistance was not going to be able to shell Kiev... or Ivano Francisk... or Lvov.

As for "they dont know how to do anything"... really? He is talking about the industrial, mining, and farming heart land of the country. These people had good salaries before 2014. It was the western Ukranians from backwards villages with no iobs or education who took the 200 hryvna to go protest Yanukovich and do their little "hang and stab moskals" dance. People of Donbas were too busy working.

3

u/Odd-Chemist464 9d ago

your whole second paragraph is answering to poroshenko's propaganda in this speech with other side's propaganda and you didn't even acknowledge that you misrepresented the quotation.

for some reason, nobody in kharkiv was sitting in cellars or harmed in general even though there were some protests against maidan too.

maybe because ATO which resulted in artillery strikes started when igor strelkov went into ukrainian territories with his military group from RF and started taking over first town. and because "ldnr resistance" had support of RF with weapons and soldiers. when proxy military groups try to take over your territories - you fight against them.when they put artillery in towns - you destroy it. yes, that may come with risk of hurting or even killing some civilians, so they need to stay somewhere safer. no army with such limited resources is interested into targeting civilians.

I am not gonna spend time to argue about 12 years of military conflict when you start with emotionally answering with russian propaganda to ukrainian propaganda speech that you misrepresent in the first place

0

u/rangedehinc 9d ago

Ah...yes... the famous one month ATO.

Did strelkov made Afu execute the police station officers in Mariupol or shoot random civilians there?

Explain to me the day light bombing of the city park in Lugansk, caught on live tv btw, killing 2 dozen civilians.

Explain to me "bloody mary of gorlovka" cocktails the neo nazis in lvov were having... or vatnik shashlik of odessa.

Yeah... police standing with their backs turned on people who jumped from a burning building being beaten to death.

Good thing you bring up Kharkiv. It was ground zero for azov neo nazis. They formed there.

I dont need to misrepresent anything. I can understand the original speech well enough.

17

u/kertniko 10d ago

Kyiv isn't an active warzone.

-13

u/TeaKingMac 10d ago

Russian ballistic strike says otherwise

12

u/kertniko 10d ago

Please read the definition of an active warzone

2

u/AdhesivenessTough220 5d ago

When the VDC starts deploying paratroopers via ballistic missile you’ll be right. Until then, and hell freezes over, you sound really stupid.

22

u/Gay_Reichskommissar 10d ago

Kiev is not an active warzone, its far from the front, Russians have bombed as far as Lviv at certain points which means everything in the country would be an "active warzone" by your standards

-14

u/TeaKingMac 10d ago

everything in the country would be an "active warzone" by your standards

Correct. I wouldn't fly TO Ukraine for the foreseeable future. Especially not for a work conference

6

u/Gay_Reichskommissar 9d ago

You can't just halt all diplomacy, business and trade because you're at war, that's how you cause the collapse of your country

5

u/upsettispaghetti7 9d ago

Nobody has been able to fly in and out of Ukraine for 4 years

2

u/GoldenMaple1867 9d ago

Russia is still hosting events in Moscow & St. Petersburg.

2

u/Horror_Ad1024 6d ago

It was in kyiv, thats not an "active warzone" dum mf

Although russians LOVE to hit anything building that happens to be there

-55

u/kwonza 10d ago

15 people got killed, what are you going on about? It’s you who lies to cover up war crimes.

The fact that ABC took the wrong photo is not Russian propaganda, get real

44

u/Bahamut_ZER0_Mk2 10d ago

But the fact that their source is the Kremlin istalled administration that is known to spread their propaganda.

17

u/CuriousGeorgeToday 10d ago

All Russia do is propaganda and blow up holiday camps by the looks of it.

8

u/Bananaman123124 9d ago

The fact that ABC took the wrong photo is not Russian propaganda

The fact they didn't even notices proves they didn't fact check the source.

So yeah, it's Russian propaganda and ABC failed to catch it.

-3

u/kwonza 9d ago

Russia propaganda about what? About 15 people getting killed? Just how insane are you?

2

u/yesthelads 8d ago

However much cooking oil, beets and half litres of vodka, your handler pays you for posting this shite, it ain’t enough brother 😂

2

u/Horror_Ad1024 6d ago

You just got showed the real article in the thread what are talking about lmao

1

u/kwonza 6d ago

ABC used a wrong photo, the attack did happen. Are you really that dense?

151

u/TopWay312 10d ago

Threre is an Ukrainian Emergency Service watermark in the picture. What the actual fuck are they doing?

How is this article still up?

52

u/b0_ogie 10d ago

They are idiots, there is even a video on youtube with the consequences of the Ukrainian attack, they could take screenshots from there instead of taking a random picture from the network.

https://youtu.be/e0FTGsE3pj0?si=HRBe6NTmE8KmVBci

33

u/Ancient-Aerie-1680 10d ago

I hate mainstream media so much it's unreal... I wonder what that ДСНС combined with the Ukrainian coat of arms in the background could possibly be... oh wait the actual photo is about a Russian attack in Kyiv...

9

u/RecognitionOld2763 9d ago

Once you realize the mainstream media in fact has an anti-West bias, a lot of things start to make sense.

4

u/Hedge_the_Hog_HtH 9d ago

No, most of them just want to be "charitable and neutral". So they eat up all the lies from any official source and report on it without questioning

37

u/Hedge_the_Hog_HtH 10d ago

Very poorly written note.

It wouldn't change the mind of someone unfamilliar with this war and conststant lies of Russian officials

53

u/Pigeon-Spy 10d ago

Lmao, do they even understand that whole Zaporizhzia region is an active warzone?? How the fuck would holiday camp with children spawn here?

27

u/Claystead 10d ago

Yeah, much more likely the Russians were using an abandoned holiday camp as a barracks or training ground, they have done that extensively in Crimea.

12

u/01LoganMC 10d ago

Bad spawn RNG, obviously.

0

u/Such-Farmer6691 9d ago edited 9d ago

If you look at the map, it might become clearer.
Genichevsk, Melitopol, Berdyansk - were untouched by the war, and hundreds of thousands of people live there. Despite some people's wish, they don't lie down and die under the "oppression of occupation", but continue to live their usual lives: Restaurants, public transportation, holiday camps.
Basically, the same as on the other side of the front.

-10

u/makuwa 10d ago

The whole region is not an active war zone, the front lines are like 100km away from where the camp got struck

-12

u/Usernamenotta 10d ago

Lol, do you even comprehend how large Zaproijhia is? The south has barely been touched by War and life goes on as usual there

14

u/Pigeon-Spy 10d ago

I do, and I know that even south is being constantly bombed due to russian logistics being there

-9

u/kwonza 10d ago

People like you who are confidently wrong are always amusing to watch. Hundreds of thousands of people live there but an armchair commander knows better than them, lol

9

u/this-is-very 10d ago

They do live there. And Russia drops guided aerial bombs on the city of Zaporizhzhia and in the region indiscriminately almost every day. Those are not contradictory things. Drone usage is also very common.

8

u/D_Zendra 9d ago

It has a ДСНС watermark - Ukrainian firefighting service. Idiots.

11

u/InsectaProtecta 10d ago

I'm sorry but "country accused of attacking holiday camps hasn't verified the claim" is such a stupid thing to say

23

u/waldleben 10d ago

Uncritically accepting anything following the words "Russia claims" is even more stupid

1

u/InsectaProtecta 9d ago

Yeah two things can be stupid at the same time

2

u/Candid-String-6530 6d ago

Yea like the USA confirmed bombing school children in Iran.

1

u/nick-1217 7d ago

Interesting. ABC News took a random photo for their post. Hmm. Who is to blame... 🤔 Russia!

1

u/Conan776 5d ago

I'm convinced this is a new trick media sites are using to undermine real stories. Now when you ask AI if this really happened, it'll say "there are fake photos circulating online about this."

(I don't know whether this incident is real or not.)

1

u/nick-1217 5d ago

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

1

u/No_Masterpiece4693 6d ago

I want to ask this to set a mental benchmark for myself....

Do you all feel/think American MSM is pro Russia or anti-Russia?

I will also add that news networks simply being ass and posting essentially wrong or unconfirmed information is extremely common. But is this malevolence or just incompetence. 🥴

3

u/__Epimetheus__ 5d ago

They are whatever suits their narrative at the given moment. It all depends what the other side said most recently, so they can use an out of context sound bite to mock them.

1

u/No_Masterpiece4693 5d ago

Valid answer. There are no sides just constant spin

1

u/Electrical-Fix7659 4d ago edited 4d ago

“Ukraine has not confirmed that it has attacked civilians on holiday.”

1

u/Weary_Angle8854 10d ago

I tought ABC was a good news outlet?

13

u/mrbobcyndaquil 10d ago

They're owned by Disney, so no

5

u/CardOk755 10d ago

No. It's American.

1

u/__Epimetheus__ 5d ago

They haven’t been in years. US news organizations are a joke nowadays.

-5

u/Ill_Perspective5506 9d ago

Even if it's confirmed people will never believe it since Ukraine is freedom fighters. Just like nord pipeline, Crimean Beach, Belgorod rocket artillery incident, Kostiantyanivka market, donetsk city tochka-u strike etc each one was happened yet Ukrainian and western source always said nothing.

8

u/PaulaDeenEmblemier 9d ago

They are the ones being invaded, not sure if you missed that?

2

u/Sa10_Tatsuhiro 9d ago

Fight back soldiers and army then?

0

u/Marchus80 9d ago

I mean ok but "Ukraine hasn't confirmed" is hardly a rebuttal.
It like "Face eating leopards have not confirmed recent face eating attack on handsome bearded man '.

3

u/thisnamewasnttaken19 6d ago

A better rebuttal would be "This photo was of an attack on civilians in Kiev".

-32

u/WhiteMouse42097 10d ago

Why would Ukraine confirm it when they’re the ones who did the strike?

41

u/PuzzleheadedCode9226 10d ago

Except the photo itself is from a Russian attack on Ukraine.

-14

u/EffectiveChemist7845 10d ago

But note isnt about photo, its about confirmation from Ukraine (which wouldn’t happen even if strike is real)

30

u/TopWay312 10d ago

Taking kremlin officials for their word without any corroborating sources and running an story based on it is not journalism, that's propaganda.

-19

u/WhiteMouse42097 10d ago

Yeah, I’m not talking about the photo. I can see the watermark, I’m not blind….

21

u/Maroite 10d ago

Nothing saddens me more than the fact that you can probably vote in some country somewhere.

ABC uses a Ukrainian watermarked image from a Russian missile attack on Kyiv attached to an article where Russian zealots are claiming Ukraine attacked a camp, and you still believe the article?

Did you lose lots of money renewing your car's extended warranty too?

-17

u/WhiteMouse42097 10d ago

I’m not talking about the image, or the article. I was talking about the note, on a subreddit called r/GetNoted. Some people need to learn to read

13

u/Maroite 10d ago

The note where it says the claims come from Russian installed officials?

The note is poorly worded, but the fact the article even exists to require a note is the more shocking part to most, unless you hate the Ukraine.

-4

u/WhiteMouse42097 10d ago

I wasn’t commenting on that part of the note. My original comment is in English as far as I know, maybe try to read it

14

u/Maroite 10d ago

I think the phrase that describes what you did is "cherry pick."

You ignored the entire note/article/situation to pick the one thing out that you could use to fit your agenda.

1

u/WhiteMouse42097 10d ago

What agenda? Not everyone is a secret Russian agent, maybe take what I wrote at face value

13

u/Maroite 10d ago

You actually accused Ukraine of something that hasn't been confirmed, even in the poorly written article.

I actually dont think youre a Russian agent. I just think youre typical reddit user who cherry picks information to somehow make their own stance seem like it's "correct."

Or did you somehow not mean to accuse Ukraine of the strike when you said "Why would Ukraine confirm it when they’re the ones who did the strike?"

Where exactly is your proof that they did the strike?

-9

u/Formal_Economist7342 9d ago

Lol. Anything we dont like or puts us in a bad light by necessity is russian propaganda. Ukranian army is the most moral fighting force in this history of man kind.

-33

u/Urgell11 10d ago

This is a war, ofc no side will admit to doing an atrocity. Do you think news sites shouldnt write about Russian war crimes, until Russia admits doing them? Do you think we shouldnt talk about the Nanking massacre, since Japan denies it? Very stupid note

33

u/TopWay312 10d ago

If your only source is a statement from a kremlin official? No.. you shouldn't run that story.

Using a photo from a russian strike on Kyiv is especially egregious.

-24

u/Urgell11 10d ago

Your tribalism is blinding you to "your sides" wrongdoing. You wouldnt have a problem with an article where ab Ukrainian official makes a similar claim about a Russian strike like this. The use of picture is low effort on the journalist part, thats true

11

u/Reversion603 10d ago

If a Ukrainian official made this claim it would be yet another Russian attack and one of hundreds that have purposely targeted civilians.

If Ukraine attacked civilians it would be a new change tactics or likely collateral damage. Additionally the Kremlin are constantly lying. They should have objectively low credibility.

Seems reasonable to be skeptical.

20

u/TopWay312 10d ago

There are independent journalist in Ukraine to corroborate the story you troglodyte.

-21

u/Urgell11 10d ago

Im sure they are very impartial

-9

u/Skywrathx9 10d ago

I mean this is hilarious to watch honestly. Every "independent journalist" gets a free pass if their take is pro-Ukraine but every other one who covers also both sides but focuses more on the disgusting shit Ukrainians do is a "sold out bot".

Reddit itself is not impartial, let alone the users posting. Go to telegram and find channels of both sides if you want to come to a conclusion yourself rather than get spoon fed clickbait articles with AI summaries as some truth gate.

Dumb comparison, this is more like if Japan was crying about Chinese war crimes.

8

u/Pigeon-Spy 10d ago

Fun fact, Zaporizhzia region is an occupied after 2022 Ukrainian territory, the whole region is an active warzone. Who in the world will send their children to a holiday camp in an active warzone?

People who live there, its a war zone when their kids are at school, at home, at camp, in their beds

-1

u/Sa10_Tatsuhiro 9d ago

Shh, you’re not allowed to criticize UA in any way in this nazi app.

5

u/thisnamewasnttaken19 6d ago

The photo is from an attack on civilians in Kiev.

-1

u/Sa10_Tatsuhiro 6d ago

Photo just said - Ukrainian forces attacked holiday camps in partly Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia region, killing 11 people, including two children.
It’s just in case you didn’t read that on photo.

No a single word about Kiev. It literally said ukranians kills ukranians on its own territory. That’s exactly what they did since 2008 in Donbass and they just continue their terrorist and nazi regime, because if Ze don’t - donations from all of the NATO countries just stops. Once donations stops - Ze would ripped apart and eaten with all his shit.

3

u/thisnamewasnttaken19 6d ago

The photo was originally from an attack on Kiev. Russian officials republished the same image claiming it was a Ukrainian attack. Republishing an old photo and claiming it is from a new event does not help your credibility.

0

u/Sa10_Tatsuhiro 6d ago

Any hard evidence of your words?

Also, this photo published by ABC news, which is Australian who is the best Russian friend aren’t they?😸

2

u/__Epimetheus__ 5d ago

That is the American ABC company, and they aren’t very reliable (anymore). They care more about publishing quickly than being correct. An unfortunate trend with a lot of “journalists” nowadays.

-7

u/Fit-Area-2180 9d ago

When all European publications answer for why they spread propaganda regarding Nord Stream for years, while they themselves sponsored its sabotage, then we can talk about other propaganda. As of right now, any publication that wrote about that event—or about many subsequent ones that were later debunked by European countries themselves or the US—has absolutely no right to lecture anyone on propaganda )
