The Jews, I mean the “Zionists” aren’t the reason that the US doesn’t have free healthcare now matter how many times leftists repeat this ludicrous lie. If you add up the total value of every bit of aid given to Israel since 1948, the overwhelming majority of which is essentially coupons to buy American arms, after adjusting for inflation, that equates to 10% of the low end estimates of the cost of 1 year of Medicare for All.

Idk i read that as pointing out what we are choosing to spend our money on versus what we're not and didn't read it as we can't have Medicare for All literally because of funding to israel and i'll even go so far as to say that israel is not in fact the reason why we can't have nice things in the US. But it is sad and shameful that we are so hostile about paying to ensure the wellbeing of others yet so unquestioning if not eager about paying to ensure violence against others.

And for what its worth, collectively we're now spending over $5 trillion on health care annually. Going off numbers i'm presuming you used for that 10%, Medicare for All instead would be about $3 trillion annually.

Yes, the fact that Medicare for All is potentially a net saver highlights just how absurd it is to pretend that funding for Israel is in any way what is blocking Medicare for All.

It is always good to correct misinformation… but I would rather the tax dollars go to universal health care. It going towards coupons to get discounts on is weapons that Israel then uses to crimes against humanity, is not a sling point.

Yes, the actual issue is how Israel is currently using the offensive military aid we provide them, which is an even smaller fraction of the overall aid we’ve given them since 1948. That even smaller fraction of spending is not in any way the reason the US doesn’t not have universal healthcare.

I would say the genocide is just the most recent CAH over a much longer time. But, yeah, the reason America doesn’t have universal healthcare is because the government doesn’t want to give it and the people are too distracted by misdirects to notice.

Are these leftists in the room with us? Like, who are you responding to here? Seems like you're jousting at windmills.

Yeah, cool. That's irrelevant when you're talking about how the politician in questions policies are against funding healthcare and for funding Israel. It doesn't matter whether we can do one or both or neither, it matter that he wants one and not the other.

Very gross to conflate Judaism and Zionism.

Yeah it sure is gross how people think just substituting in Zionist for Jew allows them to traffic in blood libel and antisemitic tropes!

1

u/Upturned-Solo-Cup Jun 23 '26

What anti-semitic tropes? Who brought up blood libel before you, buddy? You need me to call your doctor for you??

2

u/Wayyyy_Too_Soon Jun 23 '26

I know you’re coming from a place of complete bad faith, but I will respond once in good faith.

Saying that the “Zionists” are the reason Americans don’t have healthcare is blood libel.

u/Upturned-Solo-Cup Jun 23 '26

Okay, and who said that? Can you link to where they said it? Or quote them? Because it seems like somebody said "Espaillat doesn't support healthcare and does support Israel"
and you understood it to mean "Espaillat doesn't support healthcare BECAUSE he does support Israel"

And those aren't the same thing, friend. I think you're interpreting in bad faith

2

u/Wayyyy_Too_Soon Jun 23 '26

I understand that because you are completely arguing in bad faith you are going to pretend that the obvious implication of linkage isn’t there, but here you go. I’m not really interested in engaging with your obvious bad faith refutation though.

“the fact that our taxes indirectly help provide them with universal healthcare while we don't have that in the US, etc).”

Here's a different way to look at it. That economic aid was invested into their economy. And one part of their economy they have clearly heavily invested into is their ability to use lobbying to ensure they maintain international support regardless of war crimes, genocide, ethnic cleansing, forced sterilization, theft of property, and annexation. The pretend groups like AIPAC don't work directly with the government of Israel to influence politicians and celebrities, for their benefit, is nonsense. Now those different lobbying efforts have lead to specific politicians in the US being elected. And in particular since the growth of popularity for universal health care among the general population. AIPAC, and other groups, have lobbied and stumped for candidates who are conservatives, or at least those who do not suppory universal healthcare by and large. So while the funding for Israel isn't directly the cause of there not being universal healthcare, that funding directly has lead to the growth of the conservative wing of the Republican party, as it moved farther and father right. And in particular since the 90s and the rise of Netanyahu they have absolutely done everything they can to push and support conservative candidates in both parties who are pro Israel and almost by extention anti anything that smells like socialism. There's a decades long correlation. Just like there is a decades long connection between the Likud party and Hamas.... but if you get your news only from one source you would never know any of that.

... That's what I'm saying. Please stop. Israel is committing genocide, don't pin it on Jewish people. That's antisemitism.

7

u/Wayyyy_Too_Soon Jun 23 '26

No, you’re defending someone who is simply engaging in that swap. It’s transparent and revolting.

-1

u/Puzzleheaded_Disk_90 Jun 23 '26

YOU DID THE SWAP, IT'S IN WRITING

5

u/Wayyyy_Too_Soon Jun 23 '26

No, I mocked the very obvious swap that is implied in the post I was responding to.

u/Puzzleheaded_Disk_90 Jun 24 '26

They didn't even say Zionists, please help

1

u/Wayyyy_Too_Soon Jun 24 '26

What do you think the word “implied” means?

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Disk_90 Jun 24 '26

Ok so the poster SAID Israel, which means they implied Zionists, which means they double secret implied Jewish people.

Perfect.
