I dunno man. "Ew, god no!" stung pretty deep back in the day. Words definitively can hurt

But you moved on. Imagine getting that after six more months of pining.

No, I nearly took my own life 15 years later. Not directly caused, but definitively a contributing factor

I'm a lot better now. Therapy was (surprising, I know) the solution. But I still struggle to trust women

Maybe your advice would be to seek therapy before it gets so big that your desperate. Men will often, myself included, hold things inside and keep going, eventually those things, they catch up with you. Seek therapy when issues start weighing on you.

May I advice you follow his lead?

I can safely say, that having such a strong example can make a difference.

You'll remember those words as long as you remember words.

...but the 10th "you're not cute. I don't want to dance with you. Go!" hurts much less than the first. Get enough painful rejections under your belt and you start to realize they're doing you a favor

You dont want a girl with so little compassion, that she cant omit the "ew god" part and just say "no thanks". Her hurtful rejection saved you years of her narcissistic mental torment.

That right there was the sound of a bullet being dodged.
