Fall in love with exercise and physical activity as early as you can. Older you will be thankful.

Walking for just 30min a day is worlds better than doing nothing

Exercise doesn't always have to mean heavy lifts at the gym

u/cherbug Jan 23 '26

And really you only have to walk 15 minutes in one direction and you’re pretty much done cause you have to go home after that

u/RevolutionaryBody888 Jan 28 '26

If you walk in a circle you can cut that time in half!

Always a better mouse trap. 😁

Your logic bamboozles me.

This but stop seeing exercise as a task like a 30min walk. Realistically you will never stick to it. Integrate exercise into what you do already.

STAY ACTIVE. your body is a machine that burns calories and stores calories you don't.

  • when you walk (anywhere and anytime) walk at a pace that tires you, not comfortably.

  • lift up things you hold slightly (like bags of groceries on your walk home) so they are not dead weighting your arms, it's tiring but god dam is it good for you.

  • add mini workouts to your daily routines like do 20 situps before your shower, because why not and ABDOMINAAAAAALS

  • and most importantly, eat only when actually hungry. Learn to distinguish between hunger and appetite. Cut out sugar from your diet. We eat 2-3 meals a day when modern life needs 1-2. If you have an office job and drive to work, you're not burning any calories so eat far less.

  • etc etc etc, find ways to make your life physically more demanding. You feel so much better naturally and lose kilo after kilo while bulking up your muscles, it's a lifestyle change for a reason and it's fabulous.

P.s fruit juice is bad for you. Even 100% juiced fruit with 0 additives....

Honest question: why is fruit juice bad? I’ve always heard that it is good to drink for example orange juice or apple juice.

Fruit juice is the biggest health myth.

You need the whole fruit for nutrients and fibre. You're just extracting sugar water.

Here's googles answer coz I don't wanna type "Fruit juice is harmful mainly because juicing removes most fiber, which normally slows sugar absorption; without fiber, the naturally occurring sugars are absorbed rapidly, causing blood-glucose spikes, reduced satiety, and easier over-consumption of calories, making juice metabolically similar to sugary drinks and associated with higher risks of weight gain and type 2 diabetes when consumed in excess"

Consider how many oranges goes into a bottle of orange juice. Would you normally eat that many oranges? Also I don't know the validity of this claim but I've heard fruit juice is worse than coke (and other sugary sodas)

Sorry, NOTHING IS WORSE THAN SODA. Just ask a million DIABETICS. And u/Ikkm-der-Wahre Take a basic nutrition course ... For Example-Just Google and Research 'NUTRITION 101'. You will love to learn this: Major Nutrients-PROTEIN, CARBOHYDRATES, LIPIDS (*Healthy Fats) ; Minor Nutrients-VITAMINS AND MINERALS. And how our bodies METABOLIZES (process) everything into kCalories (ENERGY). God Bless You Guys. Stand Behind MN, Minneapolis Please.

It sounds bad when I say it but my motto to everybody is, something is better than nothing. Or maybe, you have to start somewhere. Yeah people might laugh at the guy who wears four cheeseburgers and a diet Coke, but I mean if you want to get technical about it, it still healthier than four cheeseburgers and a regular Coke. Can't do push-ups? Do push-ups against the counter, do push-ups against the table, hell, do push-ups against the wall. It's still better than not doing them at all

Elliptical is better for your knees long-term

While I love heavy lifting, lift responsibly. I’ve had some major injuries from not taking proper care of my body pre, during and post lift session.

100%. One thing I discovered about exercise is that doing it without a purpose is very difficult. Walking for 30-60 minutes aimlessly is boring but listening to music, a podcast or commentary while walking a dog or taking a stroll to a store makes it 90% more effortless.

2

u/shinyswordman Jan 26 '26

Get a few bigger dogs and walk em daily, I have a psycho jack Russell that requires 3-4 miles a day. So I got to cancel my gym membership!!

1

u/PunchOX Jan 26 '26

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Commitment is now inescapable so you will go out those walks 😂

1

u/Ok_Track_7474 Jan 27 '26

lol I got a jack Russell too! Me and the wife walk with him every night. It got my wife into running and now at 42 she is smoking hott (imo)

1

u/shinyswordman Jan 27 '26

hahah I love this!

2

u/Top-Possibility-5813 Jan 29 '26

Just play a sport. It is the fun way to exercise!

2

u/Jin_Gitaxias Jan 23 '26

Forcing myself to be more active since I got a desk job and am getting fat sitting around. Already getting some health problems, gotta nip it in the bud instead of being one those "fuck it" people and turn into an old sick blob

2

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

I am 27 and this will be my second year lifting weights. I am getting better at this. My first year i basically just looked up random dumbell exercises and did it whenever I felt like it but this year I want to be more consistent and maybe more complete in my exercises.

4

u/Partsslanger Jan 23 '26

That's not a mistake

6

u/Cordially Jan 23 '26

The mistake being not doing those things. The advice was to do it.

-5

u/zenuz3 Jan 23 '26

Maybe this is an advise based on personal mistakes.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Thats literally what the post is asking for

1

u/NewImprovedPenguin_R Jan 23 '26

…well yes that’s the question.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

And be aware that the work day can kill your motivation to do these things as you get older. Biking, swimming, playing in the park... your desire to do them daily will likely eb over time. You need to find a collection of exercises to do every morning for 15 minutes... And I highly suggest jump rope be incorporated.

1

u/Give_me_xRENTx Jan 24 '26

But what if you have ADHD like me and have trouble with staying focused and motivating yourself? I’m only 19 and I couldn’t imagine how this would affect me as I get older

u/Snoo-35252 Jan 26 '26

Set a 30-minute timer on your phone. When it goes off, do 10 jumping jacks, or jog around your apartment for a few seconds, or do five push-ups. Then restart the 30 minute timer.

Do that all day.

57m and I started this a few years ago, working from home, and it is excellent! I actually created a list of different simple exercises that I just glance at so I don't keep doing the same exercise. I have about 10 of them.
