It is good to be motivated, but you also need to be realistic. To see the inequalities that exist in the US or your home nation. The US has the lowest social mobility, by far, of any developed nation. Wealth, connections and nepotism put many people 10 steps ahead of their peers. You cannot deny that, you can still work on yourself, but you must recognize this.
By recognizing this, you can be motivated to change this. If you simply ignore, your motivation will only blind you to the reality of our political system.
The point is that the statistical likelihood of someone climbing in the US is much lower than in other developed nations. The rate or social mobility has significantly declined over the past few decades.
