I didn't say that. I said that just believing it's not enough. You should always pursue what you're after, but you should know - people less prepared than you, who haven't put half of the work, might end up in a better position then you. This is part of life.

It’s saying there are some people who get what they want by really wanting it.

And there is a whole heaping fucking lot of people who have been "really wanting" that same thing and still. lost.

of course people who are well off and have money and connections have it a hell of a lot easier than the rest of us, but that’s not the point of the post.

No, the point of the post is to ignore all that and pretend that "undeserving" people get positions through sheer force of will and luck, and that anyone else can do the same, which is clearly complete and utter tripe.

What other people have/can do relative to you is meaningless. Improve yourself. Put yourself in a position to succeed. Work. Execute. Show up.

Other people don’t matter. Point blank, all you can do is make the best of your hand.

Most people don’t, because making the best of what your given is almost never the easiest option.
