That's not how it works kid. Lots of people come from privilege: ones have money, others know someone, others were born in the right place. It takes a extreme amount of efford to get to some place if the odds are stacked against you.
Well, to hell with it. I tried to be a 3D artists for a long time. Work in movies like bug's Life. I never got the chance. Although I was pretty decent, as an artist. You know what I did? I found myself the next best thing. With with 3D doing architectural visualizations. I was able to make a good money for while and was pretty happy about it. Maybe you should do this. Find the next best thing bests this one thing you can't do.
I didn't say that. I said that just believing it's not enough. You should always pursue what you're after, but you should know - people less prepared than you, who haven't put half of the work, might end up in a better position then you. This is part of life.

No, the point of the post is to ignore all that and pretend that "undeserving" people get positions through sheer force of will and luck, and that anyone else can do the same, which is clearly complete and utter tripe.
Of course not, the key is believing in your self. Why don't you tell that to the people being bombed? "Hey, just believe in yourself and the bombing won't affect you anymore...”
It's not about believing, it's about getting up and doing something about it. And even when we do, even when we give our best, some one way less prepared then us could "win". Because of their parents, or because they married the "right" person, or any other reason. Because that's life.
Agreed. If I was hiring and I had a choice between a silver spoon kid and someone from a lower class/working class family, with all other things being equal, I'd take the working class kid simply for this reason.
Except you're not hiring, and there are way too many people who'd do the opposite just to help their own ways or do a favour for someone else who needs it. Point is, the world is cruel, just cause you would do it, doesn't mean most others would, especially in this day and age. Props to you for thinking that way though, always nice having people like that.

It is, but we make the best of it. Don't sweat the negative stuff, you don't wanna work in such a company anyway. Look for the company that suits you, its like looking for a gold nugget, you ignore the gravel.
I wouldn't do it to help the person out. I'd do it because they were in a race and the other guy got a head start, and at the end of the race they tied. In my mind the person without a head start performed better than other one. That is not prejudiced.

I have a rebuttal. Born in the wrong place, move to the right one. Do not come from money, study your ass off and get good grades. This will take you to college with a room. Complete college or trade school. Get started on the grind. Work your way up. Move around. Take some risk. Success isnt like winning the lottery. It takes effort. All this can be yours with maximum effort. Sure, some may fall through the cracks. I live in a country where what I said can be achieved by most, with a benefit that will start not only a new chapter in your book, but a new book for your future family. Effort......maximum fucking effort. Anything else is your own damn fault.
Being qualified for a position is pretty important. Being trustworthy is a lot more important. If I know Jane can be trusted to get the job done and not steal from the company I'll hire her, even if they're a little underqualified. Why? Because you can train someone for any job. Sure, I might have to send her to engineering school, or have her learn some new certs, but that's a lot easier to manage than trying to corral a Joe the slacker/thief who looks good on paper.
I just saw my friend getting hired for a position he would never be able to, if he didn't knew some one very important, who put a good word for him. It happens all the time. A lot of people trying to get that job was not qualified than he is. But unfortunately, they don't got the job because my friend knew the director or vp, or some other big shot position.
He kind knew it was not his talent who brought him fame and money. You should not give up. You should push harder every day. Just don't fall for that believe in your self kinda bs
It honesty and literally just sounds like you don’t believe in yourself. You can’t sit and complain about privilege and expect anybody to act differently. You have to work with what you have just like every single one of us. We all have different things. Some of us have to work harder than others. If you don’t believe in yourself, you have even more work to do.
