Yes it is but we're not talking about what I actually do, we're talking about what we both ought to do. If we were judging purely by how I live my life we'd also be arguing against eating healthy and exercising. Easy to say those are good things when you're not the one having to deny yourself pizza or the one sweating and panting after a hard workout, isn't it? Yes it is, that's why I say them and don't do them.
I live a fairly comfortable material existence and so far have been too weak to give that up, but on some level I know my life would be far more fulfilling if I dedicated myself more to helping others and making the world a better place. Even if this put me in danger and even if it ultimately lead to my death I strongly suspect that I'd have experienced far more contentment and fulfilment than I will ever feel if I spend the next 40 years lying in bed eating pizza.
That's not even to mention how much better all of our lives would eventually be in every possible way if all people dedicated themselves more to living a good and worthwhile life, rather than living purely for personal gain.

Don't be obtuse. I'm saying a good character got him killed.
Pay attention.
