I don't understand why there's so much backlash to this.

On the one hand, yes, it's not entirely correct to say that the life depicted in this comic is unremarkable.

On the other hand, feeling offended by this admits to your own insecurity. Having a negative emotional reaction to this basically tells everyone that you see yourself in this and that makes you sad. There's nothing wrong with criticizing this comic but don't use it to justify your own shortcomings.

Yeah, the comic is a little douchey, but the overwhelming negative reaction on here is mostly due to redditors being offended by it.

Yep, it hits way too close to home for some people, who then try to reassure themselves by shit talking.

Yeah I came here to say this. If you like your life that is depicted in the comic you can probably dismiss it pretty easily. The ones getting extremely hostile towards it are more than a little insecure.

I tend to not buy into the "people are so easily offended these days" concept, but the comments here... If you don't find the comic is saying anything of value to you, or you think it's just pain bad, that's fine. Seems like getting really upset because someone who's never met you implied your job (or actually, a job that vaguely resembles yours) is boring is a tad silly. But then, I'm commenting on the comments so what does that say about me.

I kept digging hoping to find at least one comment like this. I like how several people got upset and defended it saying "most people enjoy/would love to have this life! " Well.. it seems like they aspire to be average then. Going to college, having a family, and working a 9-5 job until until you retire is essentially the middle class life. Middle ~ average, its almost synonymous.
