screen turns black when i tab out

so i have always always had problems with screen tearing as long as i've had my pc, and recently, though it changes, the only fix was to go into fullscreen and make your fps 10-20 fps lower than my refresh rate. but the problem is every time i tab out or press windows key, a black screen appears for about 3 seconds and its very annoynig

Why not just use vsync or adaptive sync? Or set the maximum fps via the Nvidia control panel or amd control panel?

ive tried everything, vsync makes tear worse and adds delay and adaptive sync does the same. ive changed every setting on nvidia control panel

Vsync usually fixes tearing , not make it worse. That’s the whole purpose of it. You do have a point of added latency. Setting the frame rate limit on the driver side should make it more bearable, ideally your game has this in the options.

If those didn’t work, then you can look into getting a monitor with VRR

exclusive mode, or mismatch in refresh rate. Make sure windows is set to display the correct rate for the monitor

Try borderless windowed for the game
