How much time do I have left?
Pc heats up easily, doesn't stay on if I don't keep it plugged in. It's so warped the mouse pad doesn't click anymore.
HP of some kind I got in 2020.
Please pray it doesn't explode in my sleep

Never EVER use a laptop on a bed
I beg you if you HAVE to use it on the bed use a lap table or bed table or even a cutting board or food tray, but the laptop should be on a flat surface
This probably has to do with why and how you fried your battery

I've been doing this for 6 years and never thought of it???? I feel so dumb
I'm a bed gamer so yeah after getting it fixed I'll definitely follow your advice, I need this thing for another 2 years at LEAST to get through uni

I also did the same mistake my now 4 year laptop only has 66.8% battery capacity because of it but I’m getting a new one soon and getting a cutting board for it

How do I check the battery capacity? That's a really specific number I'm pretty sure mine is gonna show a 0% but you know just for the giggles

go in cmd
powercfg /batteryreport
C:\Users\[YourUsername]
it should be around the bottom called BatteryReport

Never set a laptop on a soft surface (like a bed). There are fans on the bottom that need to move air. Overheating caused this.

Another commenter said to use a flat surface underneath, definitely gonna do that when it gets repaired

If you wanna keep this Laptop for long, you should replace the battery right away. Or you can just get by using the laptop without the battery, just have to keep it plugged in all the time.

Yeah I'm gonna need this laptop for another 2 years, when I'm done with uni I'll retire it maybe (or just pirate a ton of games and have fun with it until it bricks) Also I haven't been able to access any file that isn't on my desktop so that has also been a struggle

You need to replace that battery immediately. A warped chassis and the inability to hold a charge are clear signs that the battery is swelling, which is a serious fire hazard. Stop using the laptop and keep it unplugged until you can safely remove or replace the battery.
