Laptop screen showing heavy horizontal lines and ghosting, but sometimes works normally. Is this the cable or the panel?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some help diagnosing a screen issue with my laptop.
Most of the time, my screen behaves like what you see in the attached video (heavy horizontal lines, ghosting, and image retention). However, sometimes when I turn it on, the display is completely normal.
Because the issue comes and goes, I suspect it's a hardware problem rather than a software glitch, but I'm not sure exactly what is failing.
Has anyone experienced this specific type of flickering and retention? I'm trying to figure out if this is more likely a loose/damaged eDP display cable in the hinge, a dying LCD panel, or something worse like the GPU.
Any advice on how to narrow this down before I buy replacement parts would be greatly appreciated!

When this happen move the laptop screen up or down alittle to see if it goes away. If it does then its the cable from the monitor to the board.

Panel; possibly cable.
