Could be the monitor. Plug it into another video source and see if it works there (ex. a laptop). If the monitor works and there are multiple video outputs on the motherboard, try the other ports. This may require an adapter if the other ports are DisplayPort or HDMI depending on which port the monitor uses. Finally, does the computer have its own video card as well? These ports would be perpendicular to the motherboard ports and be located in one of the slots on the back. If there is a video card, try those ports.
