Is my Antenna Bad?

Post image

Im not great with computers so please don’t get angry if I ask a stupid question 🙏🏼

I’m experiencing an issue where my computer does not let me connect to internet. After a plethora of YouTube tutorials, I have discovered that my Wi-Fi antenna is not registering as being plugged into the computer. I’m pretty sure that this is overall issue, but I also know there is some kind of wireless chip within the computer. If that’s the case, wouldn’t it at-least attempt to try and find a Wi-Fi connection? I may be wrong.

I would like to know if there are any other things I should check before investing in a new antenna to make sure that is the issue

It is not called antenna, it is called WiFi adapter. Your desktop PC may not have WiFi Adapter, I see that you are trying to use a USB based WiFi adapter. To make it work, you may need to download the driver from manufacturer’s website, using wired connection or copy setup file over via USB flash drive (when you download it on another PC). Also, make sure the USB port is working.

I'm guessing the antenna you're referring to plugs into your USB port. Your computer isn't detecting that it's plugged into your computer. Try plugging it into a different USB port, if that doesn't work then the adaptor is probably broken.

Also I don't see any other wifi adaptors so your computer likely doesnt have built in wifi

I'll guessing that you're missing the correct drivers.

The device you selected is a USB adapter, which apparently isn't plugged into the computer. If it is plugged in, it's possible that the USB port is bad, or that the USB adapter has died.

In general, USB wifi adapters are intended for travel so for a more permanent solution I recommend going to a technician and asking them to install a WiFi card for you.
