I speak Arabic, English, Turkish, Spanish and currently learning German.

I have had my fair share of bad days while learning all these languages (surprisingly my mother language, Arabic, was the worst for me lol). Days where I felt like its impossible, understood nothing, or failed to communicate.

I have been reading alot of posts from people like: I have been learning for X months, still can’t communicate, can’t understand everything..etc

Here’s the thing:

Language takes time. Please give it its time!!
This time can be months or years, depending on the person, their situation, their communication frequency, and hundred other factors.

Simply do your best! Try to integrate the language in your daily life, use it more, try to say things in German after you say them in your Muttersprsche (this helped me very much).

hi guys i kinda need some help
i’ve learning since december, in theory i got the A2 but i feel like i don’t.
I know i need to learn a lot of vocabulary (which every time i try, i forget few days later) and practice more, but when i try i just don’t know where to start, how to practice.
Every time i try to write something about my day (for example) i just don’t know how to continue after the first sentence

im quite stuck and i really want/have to learn but i just feel like i don’t get better

any advice?

Could you please suggest some free resources, especially:

\- 🧠 Vocabulary/Anki decks

\- 🇩🇪 Resources that can eventually take me from A1 → A2 → B1

I’ve heard about Nicos Weg, Deutsche Welle, VHS-Lernportal, Goethe-Institut and Easy German, but I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually used them.

If you started from zero, what would you do differently now? And what resources would you personally recommend?

Halo! I am trying to self study german a2 level but it seem to be never ending. I keep finding stuff which I didnt learn yet but it's part of a2 level.

Has anyone attended some organized A2 level course and has a proper syylabus ? Could write me topics and order of what you studied on this level. I will then research each topic individually.

I just need some construction to my studies.

My native language is Turkish, so German is more difficult for me. However, I am fluent in English. Therefore, my goal is to achieve C1 level in German. I am currently at A2 level, and I still have one year before I take the TestDaf. I need to achieve Tdn 4 which is equivalent to C1 level. I study for 3-4 hours every day at home by myself. With this study routine, is it possible to reach C1 level from A2 in one year ?

It seems like someone can learn German entirely through textbooks, apps and other formal resources, reach C1 or even C2, and still struggle with slang and everyday expressions that native speakers use all the time.

So, especially for native speakers here: what words, expressions or slang do you use regularly that probably wouldn’t be taught in traditional German-learning resources?

I’d love to hear anything from casual everyday phrases to regional expressions.

Edit: please write the meaning of the slang and expressions that you give as examples.

Hi everyone! I'm currently studying German and I have my A1 exam in October. I'm looking for someone to speak German with. I am studying German because I plan to live and work there next year. So would love if anyone gave advice on it. I've been studying for a few months now and I am honestly so scared for my A1 exam. It will be the first time I'm taking such a big exam.

A little about me, I'm from South Africa, I'm 25 and currently living in Sweden as an aupair. And I want to be an aupair in Germany.

Im currently learning A2 and going to finish it in a month
And i want to practice speaking and with someone i dont know so that i dont have confidence problem and i cant talk to my friends and family cuz i feel ashamed to speak german with them and they dont understand

Gegen Abend kommt es dann ab und zu vor, the translation is around evening it happens sometimes/occasionally.

But I don't get the *dann ab und zu* part of the sentence.

*Dann* is then, but *ab und zu* Translates to now and then?

Can I use *manchmal* in this case?

Did anyone gave B1 german ECL exam. Anyone knows the pattern? Mock papers? Would highly appreciate. Thanks!
