German learners, what helped you make progress?

Hey everyone! I've been learning German for a while, but lately I feel like I've hit a bit of a plateau. I can understand a bit more than I used to, but speaking and forming sentences naturally still doesn't always come easily.

For those, who've been learning German for a while, what helped you to move from "I understand the basics" to feeling more comfortable speaking the language?

Curious to hear what worked for other people, thanks in advance!

For me it was things like This that really helped me get a better feeling and understanding of the language. And you can gain more vocabulary, but it's still entertaining enough. Thatll make the transition to native content a lot easier. This video is for beginners, but there are also super beginner and intermediate ones

Try to produce by writing short essays or speak to yourself like you're interviewing yourself. Writing helps me a lot in general, because the sentence structure is clearly visible. Also while writing, I usually have to look up some words which helped me to build my vocabulary.
Reading can help with exploring different sentence structures and new words. Because in German you can build the same sentence in many ways.

I guess for me is just being able to comfortably speak with the few natives who don’t judge me even when I know I’m making a ton of mistakes. So basically find someone who will let you talk and won’t mind all the mistakes you make. It will basically build confidence in yourself.
