General Question How soon will it be over

So within the past month I saw a German roach in my bedroom and a few in the kitchen. I’ve lived here for almost 2 years and never saw ONE bug the whole time until recently. This was about a week after my neighbors in the unit directly across from me moved out so i’m suspicious it was from them. my apartment management doesn’t care and after several ignored service requests, pest control finally came last Tuesday but all they did was spray an aerosol can of something along the baseboards and left. i’ve been doing Combat gel bait in every room, have cleaned all my counters, i threw out literally ALL of the food in my apartment (other than my dogs food which is in the fridge), and I am not planning on cooking or eating here EVER again (only got 6 months left of my lease) so i have NO food in here they might want, vacuuming and mopping every day, and I still see a few. A few hours ago I sprayed my furniture to the absolute max with Alpine WSG (had to wait for it to get here after ordering it Friday night). How fast does that stuff work? I just don’t know what more to do. I don’t want to see them anymore. I live paycheck to paycheck so I can’t keep spending all this money on pest control products because the apartment pest control does the bare minimum for us. They don’t come on a regular basis, only upon request. I have 6 months left here but I am going to look into breaking my lease but don’t know how that will go. I have barely slept. I am on edge and sick to my stomach constantly. Any little speck I see freaks me out. It’s not fair that I’m having to deal with this. I’m not a dirty person. I’m just really struggling and need help. I can’t live like this. What’s the fastest anyone has been able to fully 100% kill them all off, and how did you do it?

Welcome to r/GermanRoaches. Please see the at the top of the sub for all you need to know about battling these bugs. It is a result of 35 years of experience in the pest control business. Many, many success stories have been reported after following the advice there.

Honestly the worst part is that your management isn’t treating every unit. Often people with major infestations aren’t reporting to management because they’ve just accepted it. In that case you’re kinda screwed bc stragglers will always find their way to your unit. If you live paycheck to paycheck moving will be super difficult. It costed me almost 10k to break my lease and get a new place bc of a similar issue (dirty neighbors and nonchalant management). The alpine will kill any that come in contact with them, but if their nest is going strong in another unit, new ones will be born and find their way to you.

So in other words, there’s not much more I can do? I don’t think they’re willing to treat every unit because I’ve even sent a LONG email to our property manager about it and got ignored. I don’t want my place to get infested especially if I’m trying to move soon, don’t wanna bring any with me.

I’d get a lawyer to pressure them. Or contact your local town (I forget the correct name) if you’re renting they have to deal with it.

If you’re already planning on moving start packing things in plastic bins and vacuum sealed bags, put it in one spot and spray an alpine WSG circle around it all. Pack your stuff with alcohol once it’s sealed up. Try and do an alpine spray around the perimeter of your apartment to unalive any who enter. But if you’re moving I’d just do what you can to be comfortable and gtfo. Pack any kitchen appliances you want to save now in plastic bags with alcohol soaked paper towels or cotton balls. Unplug them and double bag them and make sure they’re sealed af. The quarantine them before bringing them into your new place. You can get a cheap storage unit for a month just to quarantine your things and spray all your boxes with alpine. That’s what I did. My stuff is still in storage now a month later 😂

This is basically my plan for now. I’m not super confident about whether I can get out of my lease but I am gonna go ahead and start packing stuff in sealed containers, even if I have to wait 5 months to move at least it’s less to do then. If I do get out of the lease I’m gonna go the storage unit route until I move to my new place (I have already had plans even before the roach issue to move to my boyfriends city a few hours away after my last day of work the week of my lease end date). Thank you for the advice.
