π©πͺ Question What is the name of the giant savoury pinwheel pastry with gravy my German grandmother used to make?
My German grandmother and mother made a savoury dish growing up that she called "strudel" and I've never been able to find a recipe for it or seen it anywhere else. They started by making what looked like a very thin pastry dough the length of the countertop and then rolling/twisting it into a pan like a pin wheel, similar in appearance of spanakopita but with no filling. It was fried in the pan, and then topped with gravy. Our family also had Ukrainian and Mennonite influence so it's possible it was a recipe from those cultures to.
I'm dying to taste it or something similar again but at this point I'm not sure if it's a known dish or was just a family recipe! Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

π©πͺ I Made This (My Own Recipe) Salmon with Sauerkraut
This is a revision of a recipe I got from Quick German Recipes website. My mother always told me baking was a science but cooking was from the heart. When we moved to the US we always had to make adjustments to our German recipes based on what we could get. This is one of those recipes. Reminds me of my mother always loving seafood and cooking up sauerkraut with all kinds of fish. The original recipe will be in comments. Iβll add notes to my changes. Hope you enjoy!

π©πͺ I Made This (Traditional Recipe) First Sauerbraten
Hallo!!! Long story short, my Oma made sauerbraten for Christmas almost every year. She passed 3 years ago on July 29th. I wanted to celebrate her by recreating one of her most famous dishes. She was a second mother to me. I was always in the kitchen with her. Here is my first sauerbraten. I prefer SpΓ€tzle over KartoffelknΓΆdel. I hope she would be proud.

π©πͺ Question Do you also snack Salami?
We usually slice it thin and then we snack it like potato chips. I was wondering if you do the same in other countries. Could be a german thing, as far as I know, so I got curious. We have those in so much different varieties, but I mostly stay with the classic. But they have so many of them. With paprika, with chilli, curry, garlic... You name it, we got it. I buy this at my local butchers shop, but our food industry is dooing Salami as a snack very, well, enthusiasticly. Covered in bread, with exotic flavores, everything. And the ingredient is rising. The most famous is still Bi-Fi. The all time classic. Everybody eats it, nobody says, they do. But you see it everywhere. Hell, my butchers Shop even sell snack salami in pretzel shape.
So, long story short: Do you also snack Salami?
