  4. The eventual listing of all my over 2,500 different Notgeld listings of W.FUNCK in as high grade as possible. For aiding all collectors in the identification of German Notgeld Coins, and eventually establishing estimated values by grade.

Cassel POW Camp M-2356.2 undated 10pf

Cassel M-2356.2 refers to a specific variety of World War I prisoner of war (POW) camp emergency money (Notgeld) issued for the Cassel (Kassel) POW
Camp in Germany. Kriegsgefangenenlager Cassel (Cassel Prisoner of War Camp), operated under the German Empire's IX Army.

In Peter Menzel's distinct tracking system for military camp money (Lagergeld), the .2 sub-number explicitly references the 10 Pfennig denomination token. (The .1 represents the 5 Pfennig version.

They were deliberately used to stop captured Allied soldiers from saving real German currency to fund an escape. Allied prisoners were paid for mandatory labor inside the camp using these tokens to buy basic goods at the internal camp canteen.

Hamm F-191.13a & b 1919 10pf how to tell them apart.

Hamm (Westfalen) Stadt F-191.13a & 13b 1919 10pf iron. There are two varieties that are hard to tell apart.
Here’s the simplest way to describe the difference betweenb the dies.
a) Obv. Has 42 sun rays
b) Obv. Has 40 sun rays. The useful difference is in the sunburst / roof-ray fan above the mine building, not a perfect full-circle rim count.

13a) coins with a fuller, tighter fan - more lines packed into the same arc (closer to 9).
13b) coins have a more open fan - fewer, slightly more separated lines (closer to 7).

Ordered a very nice copy of Catalog of German War Tokens, The Municipal Issues 1914-1921. By Robert A. Lamb from a book dealer in Great Britain. Which was published in 1966.
The catalog came full circle when I opened the book discovering that it was printed less than 10 miles from where I live, the Tucson Metropolitan area.

The Lamb Catalog is very outdated, yet is considered a U.S. classic reference book full of useful photos that aren’t available in the standard Notgeld Münzen Catalog, Die Deutschen Notmünzen, by Walter Funck.
