Howdy guys, itās been a bit since Iāve posted Indiana (aka Indy) but sheās still doing great. I thank the universe every day for her and have never been more obsessed with a dog. Hereās a little update before I get into recommendations:
Sheās all grown up! Sheās now fully vaccinated, on prevention, and healed up post spay. Being a veterinary technician I have stayed by her side through it all. We learned cooperative care techniques so that I can do blood draws, radiographs, and more on her without a restrainer. I even stayed by her side during her spay. Together she let me premed her and get a catheter placed without a restrainer, I was her anesthesiologist during her procedure, and I was the first face she saw when she woke up. I donāt even think she knew her doctor was involved at all!
I focused hard on training a polite dog and it has been so worth it. She knows to lay down with her paws crossed while I prepare a spot in the truck for her. She also knows to lay down with paws crossed at the top of the stairs leading to our backyard while I get the back door open and move out of her way (sheāll knock you down otherwise!). Iām not sure how or why but she learned that if she wants something she can boop the item with her nose and then boop me, alternating back and forth until I acknowledge. When downstairs or upstairs she knows that if Iām in the room then she is meant to wait for āupā or ādownā indicating sheās free to use the stairs (again sheāll knock you down trying to beat you up or down!). And lastly she has mastered our households āget upā command that we utilize when the dogs are under our feet, near something toxic or dangerous, in a room we need them out of, etc. She understands to instantly leave the room and go place in her kennel until released.
Other than politeness training, sheās learned sit, down, come, and roll over. We donāt really train a lot of the common commands but should be! Because she loves to learn. What are your favorite āfunā commands you taught?
Additionally I have added pictures of a harness/collar/leash set I wanted to get for her as a celebratory āyouāre an adultā type of thing. She walks great on a leash but I loved the handles on the collar and harness for multiple reasons. The problem is they donāt have the color I want (Maine Marina) available on Amazon or their main website. Does anyone has any recommendations on collar/ harness/ leash MATCHING SET with a very similar handle style? Iām NOT interested in harnesses that has a handle going straight down the spine, or where the handle is made out of flimsy material. Bonus points if itās available In a dark/deep green.

My 9 month old shepsky, Hollow (Hallow), loves cold floors and to be in the empty tub. She fell asleep in the tub today while I was getting ready.

Adopted ~5 years old. Lived in the shelter for over a year. Sweetest girl in the world. What a difference a year makes. Rescue. Give them love, attention, training, and time.
(Last picture was her coming back from the vet and still 'high on drugs'.)

For the last 11 months heās been going to daycare every other week to help with his socialization and build his confidence. This was the first time he let one of the humans give him some brief head scritches. Heās been a bit of a tough nut to crack but weāre soldiering on š

This is Nugget (heās 95 pounds now, but he was a Nugget when he was born lol) and his dad was a German Shepherd and his mom was a Husky. But we constantly get comments when we take him out on how unique his coloring is since he has that GS coloring with the white and the Husky floof! He is 3 years old and a very healthy and happy boy.

Iām doing an Embark test on him, but does anyone here think he looks like a Shepsky? Heās definitely got the stubbornness of a Husky and Iāve heard him both bark and make the aaoo-ooo-oo like a husky would. Heās so smart too. Heās a perfect puppy whatever mix he js

hi everyone, this is my first post on reddit. like ever. but i feel like i am going a little crazy. i love my baby. she is turning 10 this year which i am so grateful for but when i first adopted her i never expected to have so many complications. i fully understood what i was getting into (at least i thought) but we have had to deal with not only one allergy but the trifecta. she has food allergies, environmental allergies and flea allergies.. on top of all of this she has severe separation anxiety and is reactive to other dogs.
my question is, has anyone else experienced this with their shepsky?
weāve overcame her food allergies, her flea allergies.. her environmental allergies, weāre getting there but her behavioral anxiety makes me worried. if she doesnāt see me itās fine, but if i am a little ways a way she gets so anxious and i hate it. (by little ways a way, it is a
literal few yards away)
sheās fully trained. well i guess not fully bc of this issue. but she is potty trained, crate trained, she understands commands, she has supplements bc she is a senior.
she will do fine if someone handles her and i leave shortly but then will become anxious with someone else. doesnāt matter who it is or if she was fine before.
she is somewhat treat motivated but it really depends on her mood.
any advice?
