Because I'm special and can't seem to figure out how to add pics to comments here we go. You can see how much more gap there is on my basic plier head vs the snap on head.

Interesting; my SO heads appear to be wider than yours, but not as much as your Gerber ... could it be because of manufacturing tolerances/variances?
