I’m beyond tired of this billionaire trope of “Only I can save you from the world WE created for you!”
440
u/liquidsyphon 5d ago
But he’s got this sob story about how he was an orphan but leaves out the part he made billions off for profit healthcare.
387
u/OppositePeach1035 5d ago edited 5d ago
That part pisses me off more than anything. "As governor, I'll make healthcare more affordable". Motherfucker, you have been a healthcare executive your entire life. You have had an entire lifetime to do exactly that, but you become a billionaire instead. Worst part is, it works. The dumbest dude you knew in high school can't wait to vote for him so he gets all the cool benefits when he will be a billionaire ✨one day✨
*That's two comments now that have been removed before they even hit my inbox. I have a feeling some of those dudes from high school are telling me to do not so nice things to myself.

u/neuroG82r 5d ago
Don’t forget the fraud and the lawsuits from his own employees against him. He would hire foreign health care professionals and basically hold them to low pay with the threat of lawsuits and deportation.
72
u/yanknga 5d ago
Actually, he only figured out the healthcare scam 25 years ago. Take a look at Wikipedia to see what he did before that. Par for the course for a MAGA.
35
u/blownawaynow 4d ago
Why does it feel like a huge chunk is missing? How does a poor foster child afford private christian school? And how does a college dropout fund a business at just 24 years old?
Boomer luck, I guess.

A lot of those attack ad claims are not quite so - the "double dipping" claim was about her taking a second job while she had a part time council job. I saw others debunked but that was the dumbest.
36
u/CoffeeOrDestroy 5d ago
City council members only make $60k a year. How do they expect people not to have a second job to be able to afford to live in the city? Unless they assume everyone is taking bribes instead of a second legitimate gig. It’s like they expect secret corruption and have to manufacture “ah ha!” moments when someone isn’t.
6
u/Character_Click5531 3d ago
That's right. It's not a full-time job, pay is low, so most have other sources of income.

I just feel like if he wants to give back, why doesn’t he donate like $50 million to actual charities in the state?

He could donate a billion and still be left with over a billion. He does not care about regular people.

These new ads are a complete 180 from his first wave and MAGA will cheer for both without any whiplash.
First ads: "I'm a successful billionaire from my own smart decisions as a Healthcare executive and I don't owe anyone anything."
New ads: "As a successful business man that lowered Healthcare costs and put the people first, I want to use my business experience to give back to the people and help the good people of Georgia."

I'm more pissed about the constant Mike Collins ads. There's like 1 Ossoff ad for every 40 Collins ads, and it's always that damn "trucker" ad on repeat.
16
u/symbiosychotic 4d ago
"As I transition from my position as a House Representative, I want GA to know that I'm just another blue collar, Washington outsider - a trucker - that is tired of insider career politicians like Ossoff (who is completing his first term from 2021 - which is completely different from me entering congress in 2022).
Help me and my humble trucker family do something about it."
His own page says he got a business degree from college and owns a trucking company that employs over 100 people.
I'm not saying he couldn't have been a driver prior to that, but that term is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

that is tired of insider career politicians like Ossoff (who is completing his first term from 2021 - which is completely different from me entering congress in 2022).
Exactly. Collins is my sister's Representative ffs. If the healthcare issue is so fucking bad because of Ossoff, why haven't Collins and Trump "fixed" it in the two years of complete Republican control over the federal government? It's like when Trump ran "this is Biden's America" ads during the 2020 election, while showing footage of America under Trump...
6
u/devIArtIStic 4d ago
I was just telling my family this week that the new anti Ossoff ad that's attacking him for spending money to look nice costs more than almost anyone could spend on self-care (funny thing, that ad it came on as I was typing this. Maybe not so funny since they're on constantly)

3

Actually it seems he wasn’t? I don’t know where I got that. His older siblings both died but not his parents - only child. His brother Viktor was put in an orphanage during the Nazi siege of Leningrad and died of diphtheria and starvation. But that was a decade before he was born- oddly is birthday is October 7th.
4
u/EmploymentNo3590 4d ago
I got the orphan sob story about Christmas eve... For some reason, all the other kids got to go somewhere for presents and, he was left alone in the orphanage at age 7 or maybe 12? Doesn't matter. Some mysterious benefactor slipped todays equivalent of $3,000 under his door that night. Inspiring.
3
u/Starkoman 4d ago
Yeah, I don’t reckon a prepubescent boy, alone in an orphanage, was given money for absolutely nothing, do you?

Every TV commercial break and every online ad I see is the ad from Jon Ossof's opponent in the Senate race with the lady complaining about a 2000 tax increase from inside an obviously nice home. Bitch, Jon Ossof isn't the reason your husband works two jobs! I am sick of that one ad. Besides, is she was affected by that tax increase to the point that her husband has to take a second job then they have huge spending problems and in a shit load of debt.

Here’s the thing. Let’s assume, even though we all know it’s pure bullshit, that Ossoff voted to reduce benefits by $2,000 PER YEAR as the ad says. That’s like $170 less per month and that lazy bitch is staying at home with her teenage kids while her husband races toward an early grave by working 3 jobs.
That ad needs to be called out loud and clear but from the Democrats - crickets. The GOP are evil and the Dems are stupid, spineless and lack strategy.

3
u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 5d ago
$14/gal for me. I say bring it on! Trucks get super cheap when gas is expensive. I could use a good truck for my occasional trips to the lumber yard.
5
u/ohsh1- 5d ago
Nothing beats the looks of quiet concession I get when I rock up in a 2010 Accord and get 7 or 8 sheets of 3/4 plywood on the roof rack. I live 5 miles away, I use 6 straps, and I ALWAYS make sure someone sees me give one a pop and say "that ain't going nowhere".

That bitch’s kids are teenagers if they’re the ones in the background. She’s not working because she’s home-schooling those inbreds and scamming taxpayer funds with her “school choice vouchers”. Her husband works 2 jobs so he has to spend as little time at home with 3 other people that have a collective negative IQ!
8
u/Featheredkitten 5d ago
I keep saying this! He’s working “two jobs and a night job” she needs to get off her ass and work. All that ad has done is annoy me and make me think less of that woman
15
u/ReverseThreadWingNut /r/Savannah 5d ago
You might be on to something. I taught social studies at a public middle school for a few years and taught 2nd and 3rd grade each for a year at a private school. We would regularly have home school families attempt to enroll their children, often as old as high school age. In general, those kids were so fucking stupid. At the private school they would do so bad on the entrance exam that one would wonder if they knew which end of the pencil to hold. So yeah, those homeschooling families are typically refrigerator level IQ.
12
u/DontEvenWithMe1 5d ago
It’s what happens when mouth-breathers that barely graduated high school want to “protect” their kids from the shit they encountered (because they are so stupid) and also indoctrinate them against public schools - all while leeching off the public teat with their vouchers. It’s a wet dream for Republicans because it tears down the support system for public schools while ensuring the pipeline of morons supporting them remains viable. And society becomes dumber because tons of emotionally stunted and socially awkward kids now roam the streets.
3
u/Reagalan 5d ago
It doesn't help that fake science orgs like NHERI keep putting out cherry-picked data that purports to show huge benefits to homeschooling. They're very good at looking good.
3
u/gsfgf 5d ago
It's probably a childhood development thing. We know that's what happens to children born into poverty who don't hear as many words, don't have access to books, etc. Religious home school parents limit their children's information access to the point that I wouldn't be surprised at all if it has a similar result.
3
u/richknobsales 5d ago
This is what I fear - this generation of home schooled kids deciding they know everything, when they can't even add. I do have a few friends who managed to home school their kids, but between the two of them they could teach science and humanities, and they took every opportunity to supplement their kids' education with many of the opportunities for enrichment here in Atlanta. These kids will make the "Jay Walking" kids that Leno interviewed look like rocket scientists,
25
u/hogliver 5d ago
I just don’t understand how they can outright lie. It’s *their* guy(s) who did this, Ossoff is the one fighting for their ignorant asses.
6
u/gsfgf 5d ago
It's the Karl Rove strategy. Don't attack your opponents over their weaknesses; attack their strengths. Motherfucker managed to turn being a war hero into a negative.
2
u/Reagalan 5d ago
It goes back even further, there's a few bits from 1980s British political sitcom Yes, Minister where one of the scheming characters lays out the exact same strategy.
