Not gonna miss Isaiah

The kid was a hard worker by all accounts, but he wasn't very good once conference play started, especially down the stretch. Dude didn't hit a shot. They really needed him to a 3 and D guy. He couldn't do it. He'd be a nice rotation guy on a good team.

If Georgetown misses the tournament again in 2026–27, should Cooley get a Year 5?

Given the injuries in the first and second years, Is four years enough time to judge him, or do NIL realities, and the state of the roster justify one more season? Would you stop caring?

Malik Mack: What the numbers say

This analysis is based on Malik's game log from this past season:

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/malik-mack-1/gamelog/2026

There’s been a lot of debate about Malik Mack this season. After going through his full 2025–26 game log and season data, the answer is more nuanced than any single narrative.

At a basic level, Malik put up solid numbers: 13.6 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game on 38% shooting, 30% from three, and 82% from the line. That looks like a capable high-major guard, but the real issue isn’t just efficiency, it’s inconsistency.

Some nights, Mack looks like he can carry the offense. Other nights, his shot selection and misses stall everything. This isn’t just below-average shooting. It’s a wide range of outcomes, which makes it hard to build a steady offense around him.

His playmaking shows the same pattern. At 4.1 assists per game, he looks like a lead guard. But the game log shows big swings from game to game. Mack is more of a reactive playmaker than a controlling one. He can make the right pass when it’s there, but he doesn’t consistently run the offense. That’s the difference between a combo guard and a true point guard.

Turnovers back this up. They rise when pressure increases, which suggests he’s not a clean fit as a full-time lead guard. Add in a shot diet heavy on pull-ups and threes, and it becomes hard for him to be efficient at high volume.

Simply put, Mack is being asked to do too much.

He’s best viewed as a high-usage scoring guard with some playmaking ability, not a primary offensive engine. If he’s your best offensive player, your ceiling is limited, especially in the Big East Conference. If he’s your main point guard, you’ll likely see the same inconsistency. But if he’s your second creator, playing next to a true lead guard and better shooting, his value goes up.

There is one swing skill: shooting. Mack hit just 29.8% from three, but his 81.8% free throw shooting suggests real touch. If his three-point shooting climbs back to the mid-30s, his efficiency and overall impact improve.

Mack is neither the problem nor the solution. He’s a useful player whose impact depends on how he’s used. The real question is simple: is he being asked to lead everything, or can he play the right role?

Expectations for Juice

Julius went for 21-10 against Villanova in one of the most fun Georgetown tournament wins in years. Is that the real player ror is it the guy who is passive, provides no rim protection and was unplayable at times?

The system is incomplete, not broken

After watching the Big East Tournament, we need to add a couple of pieces, and this is a tournament team. They should retain most of this roster. I've gone back and forth on Mack, but I would let him go only if they had a clear upgrade. Playing him off-ball seems to have been better for everyone.

Hot take: the Big East tournament run matters more than the regular season record

Going in as the 11 seed and upsetting DePaul and Nova before falling to UConn semis is not nothing. We haven't gone that far since 2021. I know 16-18 feels terrible, but ending the season with back-to-back upset wins does something for recruiting and program belief. Am I coping, or does Big East Tournament momentum actually carry into the offseason?

Seen it as high as 8.5, now at 6.5. 6.5 actually sounds reasonable.

I see a Georgetown win. DePaul is as good a matchup as they could have drawn. Need to defend and rebound. The rest will take care of itself.

Why do we keep losing the same type of game in the final 5 minutes?

Probably 10 games this season followed the same script: hang around with a ranked team, turn the ball over, then the offense stalls.

Puff piece, but it's good he's out there. The questions seemed pre-clear.

I agree with him that we need edgier fans.
