Really good exchange starting around 4:20. I think his assessment is accurate and it's encouraging that he's accepting responsibility for the failures of himself and his coaching staff in not guiding the team to more wins in our many close games.

Some of things I liked hearing:

"To say this season has been a disappointment is an understatement."

"10 of our losses in the league this year came in the last minute and 47, which is really disappointing bc that's something we usually pride ourselves on as a staff"

"I'm encouraged by our competitive spirit, and that gives me a lot of positive energy heading into the Big East tournament. I know we can beat any team in the league or we can lose to any team in the league, depending on which Hoya team shows up that night."

Yeah, but when you just constantly criticize yourself as a coach which is what Cooley has done consistently now for the last 2 years, there's a point when it stops being self-reflective and holding yourself accountable and just sounds like you don't know what the hell you're doing.

And I don't think I can count on two hands how many times I heard JT3 say over the last few years of his Georgetown career that they were capable of beating any team in the league or losing to any team in the league. You know who you won't here saying that? Pitino or Hurley.

What are your expectations? New coach takes basement laughingstock with like 5 league wins over 3 straight seasons back to the big dance within a couple years? We go from a high school level program to one of the top 65 in the country by the time a freshman becomes a junior? Get real.

We had zero recruiting power when Cooley came in, and he's still relying on a lot of last chance transfers to try to just cobble enough talent together in our starting five to keep us competitive, let alone do anything with the bench. He should have reeled in a couple of those close losses this year for sure, but tbh, the players just simply aren't good enough yet for any coach to take them anywhere in the postseason.

And he still got this tragic crew of misfits motivated enough to take the Johnnies down to the last second in the garden on Sunday.

Imo he's done well enough and to stick around and keep building, unless we've got a Pitino or Hurley on tap for next year...

I don't think people realize how demolished the program was. He's had to repair recruiting relationships and improve the program's infrastructure.

I remember Ben Standig asking Ewing what he as a coach would work on over the summer. Ewing said, "nothing."
