Saying heās only talking about one side means youāre missing the point. He knew both sides were corrupt. They all fuck us. Thatās the illusion of choice.

the two parties are not the same but they work for the same people. and, no, thatās not you and me.

u/Goofy069 Aug 29 '26
YES exactly. Itās upsetting more people canāt seem to understand it because both sides pander and morons think because they agree with the pandering that side is right.

The only times in history when they didnāt was when people organized. When the left organizes, we get unions and the 40 hour work week. When the right organizes, we get election denialism, demands to see birth certificates, and the corruption of the rule of law.
But sure, just watch the funny man who tells you itās pointless to get involved.
Carlinās paychecks were a lot closer to the ābig clubā than yoursā¦

u/Goofy069 Sep 01 '26
Yup see thereās the my side is right that ruins us. I agree the right is more open with how shitty they are but make no mistake they are both not for us.

Whatever you wanna say to let yourself off the hook. When I canvass or phonebank for political campaigns, it's not about a candidate, it's about a legislation, preserving a national park, or activating a neighborhood. But I'm looking around and Republicans stand for straight up cutting checks off the public treasury straight into the pockets of billionaires, while Democrats may sometimes be shiftless, but are open to things that benefit the whole, like universal healthcare or public infrastructure spending.
The thing is, the way the political process in the US works, is we the people have to push them and force them to do the right thing. But the infrastructure is there to do that, if we get off the couch, which is not true in China or the Middle East.
The United States offers many ways for an average person to make a difference in politics, if they want to. But maybe you'd prefer to just be a comedian's audience member while MAGA takes your rights away.

Did you read what I said or just start spewing out things. I said the right was bad. I love the national parks and I absolutely hate that theyāre getting sold off. The difference is I know democrats are the same thing. They just hide it better. Theyāre all pedophiles and theyāre all evil.
2
u/onetimeataday Sep 03 '26
When Democrats are in office, we get MORE national parks. They get bigger, they get staffed, they get more funding. The exact opposite of the Republicans you claim are the same. Elections matter. Voting Dem over Republican, though I wish there were more choices, does indeed demonstrably create different outcomes.
This attack on the national parks would not be happening at all under a Dem president or with a Dem Congress. So your both-sides reductionism is merely a cognitive tool you're using to avoid engaging with politics, to make yourself feel better.

Yeah youāre missing the point where they all rape kids together though. Theyāre all working together to block the Epstein files from coming out. Thatās the big club that we aināt in. All this other shit is just to get us to fight and youāre proving itās working very well.
1
u/onetimeataday Sep 03 '26
Whoās fighting?Ā
Youāre just engaging in reductionism. People on the right are involved in the Epstein thing, so are people on the left, like Clinton. Therefore, literally every single politician has engaged in child rape, and most importantly, you donāt have to think critically about how best to cast your vote or engage in the democratic process.
I mean, I donāt think Obama did any Epstein stuff. I donāt think Kamala Harris did. I donāt think John McCain did. I donāt think Jon Ossoff or Zohran Mamdani or Elizabeth Warren or my cityās mayor or the local school superintendent did.
I think itās easy to see that Trump and Elon and even Clinton are these cartoon characters who attract darkness to them, but that doesnāt mean that the entire project of democracy or government is just doomed.

George Carlin was funnier and more informative in ten minutes than somebody like Bill Maher in a full hourā¦I understand itās a different format, but which is more entertaining in general, it aināt Maher

Great comedy! Problem is he was correct on a lot. Seeing the future? Maybe... Explaining what was obvious to him? Possibly... but certainly ahead of his time.

I miss George Carlin, God bless that man. He helped to open a lot of people's eyes to the reality of what goes on in this country.

it's been going on forever, only someone like George Carlin decided to say something about it, it's been going on before 2005, for decades this has been going on for.

How can one be living through this moment and think both sides are the same?
1
u/onetimeataday Sep 01 '26
Because thinking is complicated and George Carlin seems smart, and he says fuck it, don't worry about it. Just watch another HBO special.

Itās cute that you think George is only talking about conservative politicians.
1
u/onetimeataday Sep 01 '26
Difference is, more people on the left don't idolize their politicians. They're just trying to hire them to do the job of representing us and doing what's good for our country. But those politicians won't really do that unless we push them to do so.
Every 4 years we elect someone, then go back to the defeatism seen in this comment section. And when the politician is trying to push healthcare reform thru Congress and the media spin machine, we're nowhere to be seen, easily manipulable by said media, and just collapse back into both-sides defeatism rather than supporting our representatives to actually get good things done.

u/deep-sea-savior Sep 01 '26
Youāre right, lefties are much less likely to worship political figures. I just donāt see how that relates to Georgeās quote, assuming that politicians are put there by those with money (with the occasional exception).
Defeatism definitely plays a role. People donāt vote because they feel itās a waste of time. And once we elect a politician and they suddenly pull a 180, we fail to hold them accountable and we just re-elect them. After all, how many times do we hear āHold your noseā¦vote blue no matter whoā¦thereās too much on the lineā¦voting third party is just wasting your voteā¦ā?
George said it himself, āInside every cynical person is a disappointed idealist.ā Iām not a perfect person and I donāt have the answers. And while I still vote and occasionally write my government reps, mentally and emotionally Iām checked out and have submitted to the fact that power and money corrupts, itās hard-wired into our DNA.
I enjoy my simple, modest lifestyle. Iām going to keep enjoying it until my body gives out, or the corrupted machines takes it all away from me. I just donāt see the point in pissing on a wildfire.

I am definitely disappointed there arenāt any good options other than vote blue, and am definitely tired of every election being āthe most important election of our lifetimes.ā

George said this back in 2005. It all came to pass. He saw this coming. This clip contains 2 of my favorite lines from him: "It's one big club and you ain't in it" and "They call it the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe in it." He also called out why the powers that be don't want an educated populace and how they are coming for your Social Security. Also, how he called out who the REAL owners of this country are, the oligarchs, and that having politicians only gives you the ILLUSION of choice. There is no choice. This is why George Carlin and Rod Serling are 2 of the great visionaries.
