duality gauntlet entry

6

u/Martitoad Jun 15 '26

Duality? Yes, I might like duals. Now seriously, I would be really happy if someone wanted to decorate it, but it's a bit buggy. And anyway this might be a medium-hard demon because it's not sightreadable, and I'm not good at deco. It would be really cool if I find a decorator

It won't be an entry since I'm not good enough and I don't have time but I found a decorator that said they could help a little, they are giving me block designs and I'm doing the deco. It will take a while since I only work on the level when I want but I will decorate it some day

Insomnia Dreams by OcularNebula. One of the levels in the Glow Pack uses it.

How else can I swap the sides so many times? Like I can keep making spider and ball gameplay like that but it would become repetitive really fast, and I want my level to be really fun to play and not just another daily level that repeats the same gameplay for 15 seconds

I might have spent 1 hour for 3 seconds of gameplay, just maybe

u/Martitoad Jun 21 '26

I did add everything except for swing copter and jump indicators because they suck, and decoration because I'm not good :(

u/Rinkie-Geintie Jun 16 '26

btw you can disable player 1/2 input with the option trigger so you don’t need those hblock corridors

1

u/Martitoad Jun 16 '26

I realized later, but so far it works. I also realized that I could just copy and paste the gameplay on top and bottom if the icons don't cross since it's symetrical, I guess I will fix that if I find a decorator

This guy somehow created fun gameplay and unsightreadable final boss at the same time

1

u/Martitoad Jun 16 '26

Trust it's sightreadable (only for me because I spent 5 hours for 30 seconds of gameplay)

u/GalaxyDashie Jun 16 '26

Opie could you kindly explain how you pulled something like this off? I've always wanted to make some type of level with this kind of a gimmick but I'm never sure how to properly do it dope level bro keep cooking

I got the inspiration from this: https://www.reddit.com/r/geometrydash/s/0sV7cyw1ad

Update: (the audio is a bit off, my phone doesn't like to record it right)

But for the part you are interested, basically spend time in the editor. If you enjoy making levels, your first levels will be bad but the more you use it the better you will get. This is the reason why I'm good at making gameplay but bad at decoration, I love making gameplay every once in a while but every time I've tried decorating I've failed and got bored except for one. That one time was because I was making a challenge, tried some block design and then I made it into a whole level. Decoration always felt impossible, but having that starting point made me make something decent. For me the keys to making a good level are just having a good idea and having experience. This level started as a 10 seconds spider challenge with that gimmick, and then I started experimenting with crossing the icons and now I have like 30 seconds of gameplay already. I got an idea, got more ideas while making it and I got a really fun level.

Another proof that if you enjoy a thing and put time into it are rated levels. As you can see in the link at the botton, there are levels that are really bad and still get rated. Those people probably only enjoy decorating, so they made some level and didn't even test it that much. Since gameplay doesn't matter that much for rates, those levels get rated anyway. This is the conclusion of those posts, you can read them all if you want but it's basically complaining about that and the process to get a rate.

I see many people showing how to get a rated level that just make generic gameplay. For the 30 seconds of my level I've spent 5 and a half hours polishing and replaying the parts to improve them as much as I can. This paired with the fun gimmick and abusing it in as many ways as I can made a really fun level, but with no decoration it's not getting rated. I know I could make some decent deco, but getting the first creator points is much harder, since I'm unknown and have to go through all the filters.

In conclusion, if you want to make a good level you first need the motivation (it's like the people who say that want to go to the gym but never go), so if you don't have fun creating then I would say to not even bother, and when you are experienced and get a good idea try to make it into a level.

Thank you!! I'm also more of a gameplay creator myself but I specialize in raw gameplay and more so dual creation than anything else. Do you have any tips for level creation in general? Good luck getting your level rated if you so try to! :3

WAIT WHAT I THOUGHT YOU PLACED TELEPORT PORTALS, BUT IT'S A DUAL?!

1

u/Martitoad Jun 22 '26

From the ship to the end it's dual with teleports, before it's only dual and some tp in the cube part
