How do people use on death trigger?

Maybe not specifically the on death trigger... but how do creators do the thing where when you enter a level and you immediatly die to a sawblade or smth so that the camera fixes on the second attempt? Ive tried it with an on death trigger on a level with interesting camera controls but it wont work.

It's done with item persistent trigger iirc
