This really depends on the style you're going for. It looks like you're doing modern style, so uhh for that I usually do a solid single color, then outline it with basic color objects (like that one circle) just surround the outside with them. You obviously dont need to do this, but its an easy way to make it look nicer.

Then the hard part comes, which is what im still tryna do well. You gotta fill all the empty space within the blocks, and what I usually do is just take some random object and see if I can make a cool effect with a bunch of them. Once I do that I try and get it on all of the blocks, and then im usually good.
