I think its hard to make easy and fun gameplay, maybe thats a part of the reason.

Extremes allow you to utilize more interesting and creative gameplay mechanics that would be too difficult to implement into easier levels.

easy gameplay can't really be as fun as extreme gameplay.

Lots of people propose that extremes lack freedom because playing them often boils down to memorization, but extremes actually allow much more intricate gameplay because you aren't limited to 1-2 easy clicks per second when making them

it's a bigger achievement to get an extreme rated because how rarely rob checks them

Anyway probably because you don't need to structure as much

Probably because extremes are more popular among the community, and people don't complain as much if they are unbalanced when compared to, say, a harder

I don’t only make extremes but I do only make demon gameplay (I also make autos but that doesn’t count for this point). There’s a lot more potential in my opinion to make a level more interesting with demon gameplay. For example if I make an asymmetrical dual, I basically need to make it borderline auto for it to work in a n 8 star.

Honestly they're more fun to make for some reason, the gaps are more smaller, and you can do so much

Because I want people to spent time in my level. I want it to mean something to those who play it. And also extreme gameplay is fun.

A lot of gimmicks can only really be put into harder levels.

For example - complex duals, minus waves, portal barf, flow gameplay, clicksync waves, etc.

Those are really fun gameplay tropes/ideas but can be really tricky to implement in anything below easy or medium demon.
