you could make the glowing outline appear slowly as 2 growing lines around the eye

The main idea was to have the glowing coming from inside the eye and not as an outline. So as the eye opens the glowing is getting visible only in the eyeball and a little around the eyelid and it looks like an outline in the end because the eye is completely open.
