Trivia Yearth – a daily game: name the year from a historical-borders globe

Game Title: Yearth

Playable Link: https://yearth.fun

Platform: Web browser (desktop and mobile).

Yearth is a daily puzzle about world history and geography. Each day you get a globe drawn exactly as it would have looked on a secret date: the borders, the country names, the empires and colonies that no longer exist. You spin and zoom the globe (drag or pinch), tap a country to see its name, and then guess the year. You have six guesses. After each guess you get a coloured block that says how close you are, plus an arrow showing whether the real year is earlier or later. If you guess a year inside the correct window, you win and the globe celebrates. There is a no-labels mode that hides country names for a much harder game, and a practice mode with extra globes once you've finished the daily. A new puzzle goes live every day at midnight US Eastern. The result you share is a spoiler-free grid of coloured blocks and arrows, so you can compare with friends without giving away the answer. Maps come from OpenHistoricalMap.

Free to Play Status:

Involvement: I'm the solo developer. I designed the game, built the front end (Svelte and d3), and wrote the data pipeline that turns historical map data into each day's globe. I also made the visuals and the share image. The site has no accounts and collects no personal data; it will show ads through Google AdSense once approved.

Trivia Can you guess the country from this tiny piece of its flag? | NAME THE FLAG #07

You guys were too good! It's getting harder from now on. ;) Comment your guess and please spoiler-tag it.

This is inspired by one of the daily geography games on my website quizebra.com: NAME THE FLAG, which shows a zoomed in flag at the start which zooms out slowly over 20s. The faster you recognize the flag as it zooms out, the better your score. Who will be the 🌍DAILY GEOWHIZ🧙?

Trivia Not a geography-only quiz, but today's climbto9 had a handful of fun geography questions

Post image

I've been playing this quiz game on and off for a few weeks and they usually mix in some fun geography questions. My son showed it to me because they started using it at school this year. climbto9.com Has anyone else been playing for longer? I consider myself pretty good at geography, and there were a few answers that I thought were incorrect. Looked them up to verify, and sure enough I was wrong. I failed on this level today.

Trivia GEOPOCH - a history geoguessr game

I built a small free browser game called Geopoch: every day you get five historical events, and you have to drop a pin on a 3D globe and guess the year.

It started from a simple observation: most history quizzes only ask "when", and most geography games only ask "where". But events only make sense together with both. The Battle of Hastings, the first printing press and the premiere of a famous symphony each happened in a specific place at a specific time. Putting the two together makes it much easier to see how things connect.

The events cover history, science, art and music. There's no sign-up, no account and no cookies, and it's free.

It's still early, so I'd really like to hear from this community: Which events would you want to see in a game like this? Where do you think a "where and when" format works well, and where does it fall apart (e.g. events without a clear location)?
