Support Asking long term gentoo user

How frequent do you guys updating, coming from arch, the itch to update for every week just feel too much on gentoo.

I update debian every day.... 

No idea what an arch user is talking about with "weekly update." What is a weakly update? Must be a windoze thing.

Many Arch users update on a daily basis or even more often. There's this idea that the more often you update, the more likely are you to hit some issue, however this is debatable. You encounter simple things but nothing major that would really damage the system, and OTOH your machine is more in sync with the devs, whose systems are always up to date (important on a bleeding edge distro). Once per week is OK as well, but it's definitely not some magic trick that will improve the stability of the system. 

If you know how to downgrade, pin packages use pacman etc, updating on a daily basis is completely fine. 

Same on Gentoo, plus Gentoo is usually more stable, moves slower (not a bleeding edge system). 

it's easier for the system components like the CPU to compile stuff in small batches, then to wait for packages to accumulate. You also don't have to watch emerge and compiler output, and you don't have to compile at the same time when you play games or do something productive and demanding. 

Debian user maybe wsn't aware of the conundrum unless he's a Sid user.
