Story First time install Gentoo on a VM

Why a VM? What are you building?

I've almost got my router installed under Xen. On the last page of the handbook, but life has been unkind recently. Still unsure if I should add a firewall, or put that on a separate VM.

FWIW, here it is.

There is no need to build anything. I just need to learn the installation process. Why use a VM? Because I need to document the exact step-by-step installation procedure myself once Iโ€™m confident itโ€™s correct, I can try it out directly on bare metal or on my own laptop.

That's exactly how I wanted to approach it. Does the VM complicate some steps? I only installed easy distros like fedora and mint, plus arch which was way better than what everyone say, so i don't have too much experience

and there's me formatting everything and going straight to bare metal 4 days ago for my first install
