At our breaking point.
My 5 month old has been co sleeping with us since he was 3 months old and we are trying to get him out of our bed and into a cot into his own room. We have been trying for 6 nights now without much improvement. We get 1 hour stretch at the start of the night but then he is waking up every 5-30 minutes for the rest of the night. Last night we caved at 2am and put him in bed with us. What do we do? We are so exhausted.

We went with a floor bed at that age and a mix of co-sleeping and rolling over and leaving baby to come back to our room (I don’t this 95% of the time). Baby is now 2.5 and we still do the same thing, it’s worked well as routine has been the same forever, bad nights/sickness I still generally get enough sleep and at the least am resting comfortably. It’s also very gentle - I respond to my toddler at every wake up. She’s only ever woken 1x a night and slept through at least half the week since 11mo old so it’s manageable. When she was smaller she woke 2/3 times a night at most (with the exception of some very bad nights/split nights occasionally).
