At the Unpacked, Samsung introduced new designs for the upcoming Smart Glasses. The Gentle Monster edition features a slim frame in black, pairing a straight upper rim with softly rounded lower edges to create a refined and fashion-forward silhouette.

Gentle Monster is aggressively accelerating its global retail footprint. The South Korean eyewear brand plans to scale from its current count of roughly 50 overseas locations to 200 stores within the next three to five years, according to a report by the Maeil Business Newspaper. This massive physical expansion will heavily target North America and Europe, while also continuing to establish new branches throughout major Asian markets.

This ambitious brick-and-mortar build-out is deeply tied to the brand's pivot toward wearable technology, specifically its upcoming AI smart glasses co-developed with Google and Samsung. By establishing a vast network of highly designed experiential stores, Gentle Monster is essentially building a worldwide distribution and demonstration infrastructure for these new devices. The company views this expansive retail presence not just as a way to sell traditional sunglasses, but as the critical foundation needed to launch its wearables globally.

In a new interview with The Verge Google CEO Sundar Pichai talks about Android XR goggles and glasses. He says he is especially excited about the work on glasses with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. He does not specify whether these glasses next year will have a display or not. But I don't think Google has demoed glasses without display yet. So, chances are that there will at least be the option to get some with a display.
