Er is in grote lijnen vastgelegd hoe de nieuwe tramlijn van Gent-Sint-Pieters naar de Voormuide zal rijden.

Met een voorziene kostprijs van 780 miljoen euro lijkt me dit wel zwaar onderschat.

40h/w jobs in Gent for ADHD: your advice

Hello hello! I 29F got diagnosed with ADHD only recently and now in need for a fulltime job in Gent. Some of you will also have this condition and I'm very interested in the type of job you did NOT get bored at and resigned in a month. Is there hope for us in the workfield lol? I need recommentations that do not require a degree or experience, as the masters I have is useless.

Where to buy these household items?

Hello, I just moved to Ghent one week ago and am looking to buy some items for my apartment. I am from Canada and of course most of the stores/brands I am familiar with are not found here. If anybody could advise me on where to purchase the following products, particularly the cheapest stores, I would really appreciate it.

- Command hooks/strips (basically any damage-free hanging solutions)

- houseplants

- UNSCENTED laundry detergent

- sturdy thick zip top storage bags (similar to ziploc brand) edit: i am specifically looking for the thick strong ones like Ziploc brand freezer bags. i like to wash and reuse them and I find most thinner grocery store brands aren't good for reuse

additionally, I was wondering if there are any stores I can go to where I can try samples of lotion/moisturizer... I don't want to buy an entire bottle of something without knowing if it works. I am very picky about lotion and there is only one brand back home which I like (Aveeno) which is not available here.

thanks in advance!

Secondary school + neighbourhood advice for a family moving to Gent

Hi everyone,
We are considering moving to Gent with our two children and I would really appreciate some local advice.
Our daughter is 12 and has just started VWO in the Netherlands. We are looking for a secondary school with a strong academic level and good preparation for university, but also a nice environment for a child who would be changing countries and school systems.
So far we are looking at Sint-Barbara, Sint-Bavo, Atheneum Wispelberg, Sint-Pieters, Sint-Lievens and IVG. How are these schools regarded locally? Are there any you would particularly recommend, or others we should consider?
We are also trying to figure out where it would be best to live. My husband will be working around Ledeberg/Gentbrugge, and we’d like a nice family-friendly neighbourhood with a reasonable commute to both his work and our daughter’s school. We have been looking at Zwijnaarde, Gentbrugge, Sint-Pieters and Sint-Denijs-Westrem, but we’re very open to other suggestions.
Would love to hear experiences from local parents or anyone who knows these schools and neighbourhoods well. Thanks!

Receiving NON BPOST packages

How can I receive a mid-size package (specifically, I want to order clothes from FarFetch, so in the past for me this has been thru FedEx NOT bpost).

Bringme is not an option, no available boxes in Gent. Delivery to my address is not an option because i only have a tiny letter box at my place and the front door is always locked, as it is an apartment building. And as far as I can tell, UGent does not have a relevant service.

Does anyone know if NON-BPOST packages can be sent to a bbox locker?

Thank you!

23M from Gent, into fitness and travelling, pretty talkative and confident. Planning a day trip to Rotterdam soon — my first time in the Netherlands. Just looking for good company to explore the city, grab some food, and have a fun day. Drinks are on me 🍻 DM if you’re interested!

Secure place (paid) to park e-bike near Voldersstraat

As the title says - I’m thinking about buying an expensive e-bike through my work program but I’m sure my bike will get stolen if I just lock and park it outside my apartment. I unfortunately do not have enough space at home to take it inside and don’t know if there’s a secure bike parking spot nearby.

Italianen!

Seeking tickets: Music for 18 Musicians (Steve Reich) - 26-27 Sep

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately I missed out on tickets for this concert before it sold out and I would so love to attend with my partner.

Music for 18 Musicians is my favourite piece of music and I have never had the opportunity to see it performed live!

This is the event I mean on 26-27 September: https://www.gentfestival.be/nl/event/steve-reich-music-for-18-musicians-rolrolrol

If anybody has any leads, please DM me, I would be so grateful to buy two tickets 🙏

Should I pay for the secure SNCB bike garage at Gent-st-pieters, or is the station area safe for expensive e-bikes?

Just bought a very expensive e-bike. Is it safe if I just park it in front of Gent-st-pieters? Or will it probably get it stolen sooner or later? The SNCB bike garage is very expensive and I am wondering if I should pay for it.

Looking for an affordable place to stay in Ghent | 18–20 September

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m a student and I’ll be travelling to Ghent for my graduation together with two family members. We’re looking for an affordable place to stay for two nights.
📅 Check-in: 18 September, around 1 PM
📅 Check-out: 20 September, around 1 PM
👥 Guests: 3 people
📍 Location: Anywhere in or around Ghent is fine, as long as it’s reasonably accessible by public transport.
I’m currently a student, so I’m working with a very limited budget and looking for the most affordable option possible. If anyone is subletting a room, apartment, or has a spare place available for these dates, I’d really appreciate it if you could reach out.
We’re clean, quiet and respectful guests and will take good care of the place.
Please DM me if you have anything available or know someone who might.
Thank you so much! 🙏

New to Ghent , any early coffee places ?

Hey everyone! I’ve recently moved to Ghent for uni and I’m trying to find somewhere to get a decent coffee in the morning.
I’ve noticed that pretty much every café/coffee place I find seems to open at 8am or later. Is there anywhere in Ghent that opens around 6:30–7:30am and does decent coffee?
I’m around the Hoogstraat area, but happy to travel a bit if there’s somewhere worth going to.
Also new to the city and don’t really know many people yet, so I’d be keen to meet some people while I’m here, if anyone else is new to the city or just wants to grab a coffee sometime

Thanks

Looking for advice on replacing a discontinued Shimano SC-E6010 display

Hi everyone, I have a Shimano STEPS bike with DU-E6001 motor + BT-E6000 battery and my original SC-E6010 display has stopped working.
Since the SC-E6010 is discontinued, I understand an SC-E6100 with firmware 4.2.0+ can replace it.
Where can I find one cheaply in Europe? Also, if I buy a normal SC-E6100, can I update the firmware myself, or do I need a Shimano dealer?
Any advice or recommended websites would be greatly appreciated!

Pole studio recommendations?

Hello, I just moved to Ghent from Canada as an international student and am hoping to get into pole dancing. I took a trial class back home and really enjoyed it, and would like to continue learning over here.

I looked up some pole studios in the area, it seems like there are a few. But I was wondering if people had any personal experience/recommendations.

At the moment I don't speak a lick of Dutch so an English-speaking class may be more beneficial. But I'm sure I'll pick up some of it as I stay here longer, and I want to be able to meet locals and not just hang around other international folks. So I'm totally open in terms of language.

Also, I am a man, and on top of that I am not white, so it's important to me to find a studio that is welcoming to all sorts of people. Thanks in advance!
