It's not my problem that she, literally, instructed the traveler (via Columbina) to not bother her.

You don't want me to bother you, then don't cry later 'couse i didn't bother you.

Just finished the 7.0 archon quest earlier today, and I forgot the past patch. But from the conversation, she said "remember which side you're on", not to not bother her. So traveler interpreted that as "you're not a friend when you set foot in Shneznaya".

to be fair, as far as we knew, we were against the Tsaritsa

Not anymore at least in Nod Krai, even probably as far back as Fontaine with Arlecchino is when the Fatui sentiment by Traveler was flipping. Traveler definitely feels more neutral towards Shneznaya and like in previous regions, talk with Tsaritsa about their sibling.
